Currently have the Series X in living room, used with my TV, which shows can only do 4k UHD@60Hz. TV doesnt support 4k UHD@120Hz.
It's also using wired connection to my router.

I've decided to move the Series X up to a box room. There is currently a PC, with monitor there. The current monitor has been there a while and has refresh rate of 60Hz and full HD 1920x1080p.

I know I want to upgrade the monitor if need be, but I've started to go into a minefield and even confused myself! lol
Is it better to upgrade the monitor to one thats refresh rate is at least 144Hz or 165Hz compared to the existing one?
The ones I've seen just have HDMI 2.0 and not 2.1, will that also neccessarily be an issue?

Additionally on the subject of the Wifi, the box room is upstairs and at the opposite end of the house to the living room where the router is........is there any recommended wifi boosters? Maybe ones that I can actually plug in an ethernet cable to it from the PC and also one from Series X at the same time?

thanks

The first thing you need to consider is whether then monitor supports HDMI 2.0 or 2.1, and then if the display panel supports the maximum refresh rate for that version of HDMI, my understanding is the following:

HDMI 2.0 1080p = 120hz
HDMI 2.0 1440p = up to 120hz (Varies by manufacturer)
HDMI 2.0 4K = 60hz
HDMI 2.1 4K = 120hz

On top of this, you should also consider getting a monitor with Freesync, this syncs the frame rate of the Xbox and Monitor and can sometimes have a bigger impact to the perceived smoothness of the game when things get choppy.
