Fellas, I heard about some big major websites got their servers crashed just in few seconds this fine morning back in the states. 🤣
Basically all websites crashed in few seconds.
@Senua
I'm not super savvy with this, but if the websites crashed, wouldn't that mean I wouldn't be able to do anything on them?
I'm in Oregon, and it's 8:34. I've been able to go through both Amazon and Best Buy with no problems. It's only that I didn't even get the option to preorder the Series X.
@The_Guy626 I was chatting with lot of people who were in a preorder countdown livestream, they told me that lot of product pages were either crashing together at start or got sold out in few seconds even though they had been refreshing the link. I would suggest you to check back in Microsoft Store. Some managed to get a Series X from either Microsoft Store or Amazon. Although even Microsoft sites got crashed.
So I would take this with a huge grain of salt, but I've been seeing some people on Twitter speculating that something related to Xbox and SEGA could be announced soon.
It's probably nothing at all, but I still find this interesting after having now seen Microsoft acquiring ZeniMax. They are most likely able to acquire SEGA as well or come to some form of an exclusivity agreement (since I've heard that the Japanese state doesn't allow for huge acquisitions), which would help add lots of Japanese franchises to their portfolio. I know I'd switch to Xbox permanently if Microsoft acquires SEGA because they also own Atlus who owns the Persona series, which is one of my favourite franchises of all time. If the Persona games come out on Xbox then that'd be absolutely insane.
Not to mention that the tweet has a hashtag of TGS2020 and we already know that Microsoft will have a presence at that show. On top of that, the only thing Xbox is lacking in now is Japanese games on Game Pass. So a lot could point to some form of an announcement, but I would take it with a huge grain of salt nevertheless.
@Senua If that were true, then that'd be absolutely amazing. I've played Yakuza 3 and a lot of people have complained that the game is the worst in the series, so it'd make sense to remake it. They have been releasing the Yakuza games on Game Pass pretty much nonstop, which is why I find it weird that they haven't released the other games yet.
But yeah I mean, Microsoft usually doesn't show up for TGS right? That's why I feel like some form of announcement will be made, even if it's not related to SEGA. A man can only dream though lol. I would love it if this were true.
Normally I'm against huge monopolies gobbling up other big companies, but in this case, I'm not sure even the most ardent Sony fan could complain....it's not like Sega could languish any worse than under Sammy?
I really doubt that's possible though. MS has a great relationship with Sega (Sega helped design the X-BOX after all, and Microsoft built the OS for Dreamcast), and Sega is PC focused primarily, but I just can't see MS doing the "we don't really own you" thing with a big Japanese company. "Persona 6 on PC, XBox Series S, Series X, and Nintendo Switch" would be hilarious though. I fear anyone that's ever posted on PureXBox would be permabanned on site at PushSquare though.
Unpopular opinion for this site but I really hope that all of these major studio acquisitions don't become the norm going forward. I speak as someone who plays on PC and invests in the ecosystems for all three major console manufacturers. I doubt the rumors of Microsoft acquiring SEGA are true at all but I also just really don't want stuff like that to happen. I don't want this gen to turn into a rat race for who can scoop up which companies and lock previous multiplat franchises to a single platform. It promotes competition but not competition I consider healthy if it's done repeatedly in a short span of time. I think Bethesda will be great under Microsoft but I really don't want this to be turned into the standard of getting exclusive content on platforms. If anything I'd actually take Sony's timed exclusivity on stuff like Final Fantasy XVI and VII Remake over Microsoft constantly acquiring studios and multiplat IPs.

Agreed, and well said.
Eventually there's just going to be one super console that can run all the games. It'll cost $1000, and profits get split.
This was a great RDX podcast. Within months, it has become really huge now considering Microsoft executives have started coming here to chat with viewers.
