But we see evolution in the games. We see jumps in the gaming generations. We love games that are retro as a piece of that time period.

But when I see a studio that used to make better games with attention to detail and now, they produce this game in the same genre (RPG with semi-open world exploration) in such unfinished state and unpolish, I like to call them out it.

Big greedy studios must be held to their previous standards AT LEAST.

NO game should be free from criticism, even the masterpieces.

Hoping to finish alone in the dark by Friday so I can get started on avowed.

So I finished the first major quest tonight, of course it wasn't to hard since it was the first quest. I manged to take the bear down using a few shots from the arquebus, a few fire bombs and then a couple of hits from my charge attack and chopping away at it with my sword and axe. I also managed to find my first piece of unique loot a piece of armor called a Steel Garrote breastplate. I found it while exploring a cavenr full of spiders.

I ended tonight by reaching the town of Paradis which I can't wait to explore next time I play.

Played a few more hours today. Explored the town of Paradis and met the second companion. I managed to irritate the local gang and ended up slaying their muscle. Now I am mopping up a few side quests with my companions before continuing on the main story. So far still enjoying this game alot.

So what builds is everyone currently using? I myself am using a dual welding build with an ax in my off hand and a sword in my main hand and an arquebus as my second load out. Currently I am putting my ability points into everything but Con and Intelligence. For skills I took charge, love using that when enemies want to block or I need to close the gap from me to them, Finess for the extra damage for one handed weapons, toughness for the added Health and then recovery for the healing effect.

So far it's been working out for me and my playstyle. I was thinking of my next play through doing a pistol build which might be fun.

Curious to hear what builds everyone else is doing.

@Tasuki I'm only 45 min in. I picked the thief background..haven't gotten into the whole build aspect yet.

@NintendoByNature I went with the Vanguard Scout background myself. As I said above I am building a dual welding build and just scraping all other weapons for materials to upgrade my current weapons.

@Tasuki I've only fiddled with the magic in the left hand and sword in the other. Haven't decided what I like more yet.

@NintendoByNature Keep in mind you can have two load outs. For example I have a Sword/Ax for the first one and then an arquebus for the second one. My son is doing a Sword and Sheild load out and then a pistol and Magic for the second. I have seen some creative ones online as well.

@Tasuki I can't really figure out how to do that. I just briefly turned the game on and I don't see where thats possible.

So I upgraded my Ax to fine last night, my first fine weapon to be exact and planning on tackling a few quests today since I have the day off from work.

@Tasuki I plan on playing a bit more tonight to explore. Only played an hour so far.

@NintendoByNature Exploring is the fun part. You never know what you will find lol.

As for me tonight I did a pretty lengthy side quest. Up untill now most side quests where quick and simple, the usual fetch quest or go kill this guy here type. But this one had me going into a dungeon, it was pretty fun needless to say but took a bit longer obviously then the side quests I was use to. In the end though I got Last Light of Day sword which is really nice. It really helped with my build since that and the ax Drawn in Winter, which I got earlier are currently the best weapons for my build.

@Tasuki yea thats pretty much what I've been doing, just exploring and some small side quests. I did do the first major quest I'd say and finished off the first major boss fight. There's alot going on, and it definitely takes some getting used to. But, I'll stick with it.

@NintendoByNature I did the main quest until I got the two companions and once I got them began the side quests and exploration. Having them makes combat a bit easier and you can really concentrate on a specific build then. I dont want to spoil too much for you but yeah especially if you are doing say a mage build or range build having the two companions makes it alot easier.

And yeah there is alot going on at first I was overwhelmed but after sitting down with it and just playing it for a bit I got the hang of it. Its actually a relaxing game. Sometimes I just log in for a few minutes just to do some crafting and cooking at a camp and its all good.

I am about 8 hours in so if you have any questions feel free to ask.

@Tasuki good stuff. I certainly don't mind the sword play, but I've been really getting used to pistol in one hand, shield in the other. I hold it down for ultimate damage, and do a head shot. It works great. I'll keep at it and let you know. I'll hopefully get some more in tn.

@NintendoByNature Yeah firearms are alot of fun. I rock an arquebus as my second load out which I use to initiate combat. A few shots to head and if they are still alive I finish them off with my sword and ax.

If you are going for that range build make sure to go down the ranger skill tree as there are some abilites that up the damage to range weapons. Defiently use Kai as you main tank if thats the way you are going. You are also going to want to but your skill points in preception and probably dex dont worry to much about might as encumbrance isnt a big problem in this game. The only thing that adds to weight is weapons and armor and you can always break down the ones you dont use for mats, which you should be doing. Also no bit reason to built points into Con as the skill toughness will give you more HP overall then putting your points in con.

Also learn to cook. Cooking can be great as you can create foods that give you temporary HP, damage reduction, and damage boosts and even stat boosts that can come in handy.
