It's coming to PC in a few days. Did Sony pay to keep FF7R off of Xbox????

MS should open a way to stream PC games to Xbox.

@Ashadelo it has a PC exclusivity with Epic now, which I find stupid. Probably that's what is affecting the xbox version

It's clear Square Enix cares more about money than anything else. It was one thing to have it be a year long exclusive on the PS4. That's smart business on Sony's part given how huge the game is, but this has just gotten ridiculous with Square Enix. If you throw money at them, they could care less if millions of people never get to play a game they never said would never appear on an Xbox. They might as well just came out and said it two years ago instead of now killing people's hopes twice (Integrade's PS5 exclusivity and now the PC exclusive deal).

For me, it doesn't matter as I own a PS5 as well, but I do feel bad for people that only have an Xbox who are big Final Fantasy fans that have bought the many different Final Fantasy games on Xbox over the years. Square Enix is just giving them a big middle finger just to get more money.

This is me. Diablo, Mortal Kombat and Final Fantasy are my three favorite franchises of all time. with Diablo 2 and Final Fantasy VII being my second and third favorite game of all time. I have been waiting for FFVIIR to hit xbox, but now I have idea if it will come or not.

I only have one system, the series s, I do not want, nor do i have the time to buy another system. I dont even play the series s as much as I want. us I live in China so buying games is harder to do as i cant just walk in a store and buy whatever. I have to order online and its usually a lot more expensive. So the series S was a Godsend for me.

Game Pass hasn't finished dripfeeding the Final Fantasy games announced for Game Pass in 2019. FFVII Remake isn't going to come to Xbox until that dripfeed is over, especially as the FFXIII trilogy are among the most divisive games in the franchise. Given the Epic Game Store exclusivity, I'd guess we'll see something like Lightning Returns in March and then FFVII Remake in June (6 months exclusivity sounds a reasonable guess given the PS5 exclusivity for Intergrade was also 6 months).

Did originally think we'd see Lightning Returns in February and FFVII Remake in April but exclusivity is usually in multiples of 6 months (e.g. 6 months, 1 year, 1.5 years, 2 years) so June seems more likely than April hence Lightning Returns may appear in March instead.

@Grumblevolcano When did the Epic exclusivity deal start? I guess it will last 6 months like you guys are saying.

@Ashadelo This is me as well but just be patient, there's nobody else to buy expensive exclusivity after Sony and Epic so the game should reach Xbox afterwards or possibly a bit later if it launches through a Game Pass deal.

@BlueOcean It played great on the PS4 and PS5, so that's surprising. I would imagine an Xbox version would have been just fine if released now like it should have been.

With FFXIII-2 just hitting gamepass. Maybe Lighting Returns will hit around March and FFVII Remake in June?

Xbox runs on Windows like the PC version. The first version they developed was for PS4.

@BlueOcean True, never mind then. I guess consider the PC version the beta then.

@Ashadelo Sounds like a reasonable guess if they are planning on actually bringing it to Xbox finally. If it is coming, then they could even announce it during Xbox's E3 conference next year since E3 should be in June again next year.

Because Sony is much meaner than Xbox....Forspoken 2 year exclusive, FF16 never coming to xbox...Sony never plays nice...Bummer Xbox tries to appease those who hate the brand, hardware and company...

Epic's exclusivity for Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade started in December 2021. It could be six or twelve months long. Sony bought timed-limited exclusivity for Final Fantasy XVI. The original announcement of the game included Windows as platform and later defined as "timed console exclusive" by Square Enix. Sony also bought 2-year console exclusivity for Forspoken. Basically, Sony is paying millions of $ for keeping these games temporarily out of Xbox (but not PC). It's dirty and it sucks but at least they'll be on Xbox eventually.

Banjo-

KilloWertz

@Banjo- That is unless Sony pays them again to keep it off, which wouldn't be shocking since Final Fantasy 7 Remake is a really big deal and they've already paid them twice for it. We'll see. For Xbox-only fans, I hope I'm wrong. Regardless, I fully expect this to happen all over again with Part 2 and so on.

@KilloWertz Quite unlikely, Sony paid twice for the last-gen and the current-gen version. Why would they pay again after Epic's deal? It doesn't make sense. We'll see about Part 2, lots of things can happen until then.

Banjo-

KilloWertz

@Banjo- It's a really big deal, so keeping it exclusive to PlayStation on consoles would help move consoles for the many people that are fans of it and have to play it. Granted a lot of those people have already played it, but it still would be a big deal having it be a PlayStation console exclusive. It would still get people to buy a PlayStation if they feel all parts will likely be exclusive if the first one was.

That said, obviously it would have made more sense to just pay enough up front to actually make it an exclusive permanently. We'll see what happens in the end.
