Finished of Resident Evil.4 on the Wii last night. Still a great game over all and my favorite.version. Not sure if I will play another game before Halloween due to not being able to finish it before then.

Finished off The Handsome Jackpot DLC Last night. Very very enjoyable DLC in fact I liked it better then the main storyline. If you are a Borderlands 2 fan then you gotta play this DLC. Overall not to hard only had one problem boss and the end boss was a great fight. The casino setting was different but didnt feel out of place for Borderlands. Alot of people say this DLC was homage to the Fallout New Vegas DLC Dead Money which I can see but to me it also felt like they took some ideas from Bioshock and of course Heist movies. Still any enjoyable playtrough and great to see Jack again. I also like how they brought Timothy in from Pre-sequel and the ending was great. As DLCs go I would give this one 8/10 due to the one boss.

Finished the Guns Love and Tentacles DLC for Borderlands 3. Another solid DLC, seriously I am enjoying the DLC stories for Borderlands 3 alot more then the main story. I loved the Lovecraftian theme of this DLC. Next up will be Krieg's DLC which is the one I have been looking forward to the most.

@Tasuki. Heard so much about Boderlands but never played it. Does it hold up well in 2025 ? It feel like it was some time since we got any news about the franchise. It seemed so big a few years ago.
Feels like it's been ages, but here some writeups on the last few games I beat (all on Steam).
Tales of Symphonia
I spent a large portion of the back half of 2025 playing through this. I don't think it's quite as great as it's reputation would lead you to believe, but it's still great JRPG comfort food. I do love the little "diorama" aesthetic of the towns & dungeons in this era of Tales games too (they make great use of 3D space for verticality & have a charm to them that I think is largely gone from the more modern Tales games). Also nice is a bit of non-linearity when it comes to dungeon completion order at points, but unfortunately it also has missable quests/areas that aren't really telegraphed well (there's like 3 towns that are wiped off the map as you progress through the story).
Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution
Not the best in the franchise, but still a solid "Metroidvania" that's well infused with the colorful aesthetic & bubbly humor found in the series. The big twist here is that you can manipulate the layout of the environment in certain areas (they'll have foreground & background planes, and certain switches will move the background around letting you access different areas) which is novel, however in a huge oversight there's absolutely no in-game map whatsoever. Nothing is ever quite so confusing for this to be anything but a mild inconvenience, but it does mean I'm not going to bother looking for the two Secret Squids left unfound.
Captain Blood
A long lost pirate themed hack & slasher cancelled right before release, finally seeing the light of day decades after the fact. It's certainly a PS360 era game, from the over the top bloody action to the plethora of insta fail QTE's. In all honesty it's not all that hard of a game, though it can be inconsistent. It's only ever hard if it decides to cap off a level by puking out wave after wave of random enemies in large amounts. Otherwise, they tend to end with a cinematic QTE sequence (while insta fail, it'll just send you back to the start of the sequence & they usually aren't long) or a boss fight (bosses are spongey, but not at all hard other than one instance where it pairs the boss with the aforementioned enemy waves). One annoyance is that it also features a QTE after every boss, and (based on the couple I failed) sometimes it'll just set you back at the start of the QTE, but other times... it'll make you redo the entire boss fight. The story largely just exists to provide context for the action on screen and could largely be improved (you're an outlaw taking on various missions for the English to attack the Spanish, and I had assumed that the Brits were going to throw you under the bus at some point, but that just doesn't happen & the game ends. I have a feeling the game was originally going to be longer).

A turnbased Western RPG - made by Obsidian Entertainment
Right so after some time I managed to complete or beat this turn based RPG from Obsidian Entertainment (released in 2014). Now Iam not sure what to state about the game. But it feels like it could represent something of a landmark and maybe one of the better (modern turnbased RPGs around). Why? Well first I dont think that we have seen so many western style turn/based RPGs during the last few years., At least not very good ones. Guess that South Park the Stick of Truth might be one of not to many.
I also think that South Park the Stick of Truth, if anything, reminds me quite much about Advance Wars or Paper Mario in the sense that the games have quite cute graphics which also I guess is a resson why it reminds me of some older titles (like Zelda WW for exemple)..
Beside the main quests, South The Stick of Truth also like features a quite large number of (cool) side quests which seemed very, very fun and of course also give the game some extra play time. I think like it’s like very, very impressive how much freedom and options the combat system in the game gives you. You have so many options how to set up your character upgrade your abilities etc, Have quiet a hard time to understand how Obsidian managed to put this game together already in 2014.
Speaking of freedom the game itself is set in the town of South Park where you are ”free” to explore the setting or town to your likein. And there much to do and discover . At your own pace btw.
And I dont think you have to be a South Park fan to enjoy the game (the game which I think in many aspects are top trier). The music in the the game is so nice to and fits the game so well to.
But I guess of course that it could make sense to be aware of that the game has some sensitive content which of course may not be subtle for any age.
Took some time but it feels cool now have beaten a turned based RPG. Was while ago and South Park Stick of truth demonstrate excellency imo.
@RR529 The lack of map and quality of life features is a disappointment. Even 16-bit games had them, like the exclamation mark in Donkey Kong Country, to name one. Regarding Tales of Symphonia, I remember very well when I played it on Gamecube. It was very long and somewhat boring, but the gameplay was enjoyable. That kept me playing. I'd say that the most tiresome RPGs I've ever played are Bravely Default and Xenoblade Chronicles (1).
@oliverp Thanks for your interesting input. I'm currently playing the Final Fantasy classics via Pixel Remaster on Series X, beating them 100%, and busy with IV now. They have that RPG simplicity and greatness. Just the soundtracks make the whole collection worth purchasing. Yes, there is a music player. Most of these titles I had not played before, except I (GBA) and IV (DS). One thing that fascinates me about Final Fantasy is how the gameplay varies significantly from one title to the other.
Thanks for your input man and of good luck with your FF run.
Now while I don’t want to spoil to much of the South Park game I think its kind of cool how The Stick of Truth feels a little bit like a Gameboy or Nintendo DS game in some sense. Like a Nintendo game from the late 19900 or 2005 (when Gameboy & Nintendo Ds games where all range). But with like updated, modern game mechanics, graphics and sounds.
Guess that the development of the *Stick of Truth started somewhere around 2012 maybe (at least the concept ) . Are your FF run going good btw man? Are you new to the FF franchise?
Also is it not like most in recent years that we have seen FF on Xbox and Microsoft hardware? I guess that to see many games in the FF franchise is kind of new right ?
*I have not personally played a South Park game before the Stick of Truth.
From another perspective I guess it can be said that it is interesting that the first game, The Stick of Truth was developed by Obsidian Entertainment (the makers of Fallout 76, OuterWorlds etc). While the next game was made by Ubisoft San Francisco.
@oliverp You are tagging another Banjo 😁. I have beaten a fair amount of Final Fantasy so far: I, II, III, IV, VIII, X, X-2, XII, XIII, XIII-2, XIII-3 and XV.
Just finished high on life 2. Definitely didn’t capture that same feeling the first game did for me, but it was still solid. A little glitchy at times, but the the jokes, characters, and gameplay were all there. 7.5/10. My only gripe is that it’s a full priced game, would’ve been better at $50 imo.
@Tasuki yea, but I unsubbed a while ago. Didn’t feel like resubbing and glad I didn’t. With other games I was playing like RE it took me over a month to get it completed.
@Yousef- I played IV on DS back in the day and now playing on Xbox, as part of my Pixel Remaster playthrough. I started VII on PC, but will beat the classic and the remakes on Xbox.
