Talking Point: Amidst PS6 Uncertainty, Do You Think Xbox Has Project Helix All Figured Out?

We're seeing some big news coming out of Sony today where the company admits that it has "not yet decided on what time" the PS6 will launch — or indeed what price it will launch at — which is quite interesting six years into the current generation. We'll link to coverage on that from our friends at Push Square down below:

Of course, our focus is on Xbox and with all eyes on Project Helix these days, we're curious to know if Microsoft has the same issues here in mid-2026. Is the team considering delays and price bumps, or do they have it all figured out right now over at Xbox HQ?

There's obviously no way for us to know for sure without Microsoft telling us directly - but that's not always Xbox's style, so we think it's worth discussing and debating either way. Sony is putting its own uncertainty down to rising component costs — something Microsoft will be experiencing itself — but there is hope that Project Helix won't struggle as much with that, even if comes at a cost.

Despite Asha Sharma recently touching on similar reasons for "not being ready" to share a release timeline for Project Helix, we have heard that the system will be more premium and PC-like, meaning Microsoft is likely aiming for a lower-volume device here with its next-gen console. Maybe Microsoft can afford to bump the price up due to component costs, produce less units and still achieve what it wants to with its high-end, hybrid device? After all, Series X and S will still exist and be relevant well into the next generation, especially with Xbox's newfound focus on those current-gen consoles.

Microsoft is also just being a lot more open with Project Helix right now, and while that doesn't tell us anything concrete, it does give signals that Team Xbox knows what it's doing with this device and is on a clear path to delivering it. As you can see from the link up above, devkits are definitely going out next year, so the specs will have to be pretty close to complete for that to happen.

Anyway, we just thought this was an interesting development from Sony and its PS6 plans today, and we were curious to hear how you think Xbox will deal with similar circumstances. Will we see similar uncertainty from Team Green in the coming months, or do you think they're further along in their planning for next-gen?
