My three years of stacked GPU is coming to an end in October. I think by going through Turkey and converting Games With Gold, I bought three years for about £75 in 2021. GPU sold me on Xbox (was away from anything but Wii for about 10 years), as I wanted to try a bunch of stuff. Now I know what I like in regards to modern video games, I'm not sure I'll be getting a subscrpition to GPU or similar. I don't play enough to justify full price. Having said that, I selected GP Standard in the poll as the one that interests me because I don't need day one releases and I like the EA Sports games, but they're very cheap if you're willing to wait. Plus, the conversion from GP Core to GP Standard makes it a good enough deal that I'd consider it.
As a suffering Bills fan for over 30 years, this will actually prompt me to change my background! But yeah, odd not to offer one up for every team. GO BILLS!
I'd use it more often if the EA sports games were available. When they had Madden on streaming, I'd play a quarter on my phone for a break when working. Worked well enough for me with 72mb FTTC using whatever WiFi standard MS says you need. It doesn't really work is your connect via a router that doesn't meet the spec. But yeah, worked fine on my phone and is okay way more on my phone is the games I like we're available. Having said that, I like previewing massive games before downloading to the xbox
When I first bought my XSS, I stacked 3 years of Gamepass form Turkey for £70. I've enjoyed gamepass, and after having been away from gaming for a long time or had helped me get back into it. But old habits die hard, and I play mostly EA sports games and Sonic! Plus puzzle platformers. I've purchased several games that I still haven't played that aren't on gamepass. Long story short, I think gamepass is great value, if you're trying to find your new gaming niche or have lots of time to Game, but I doubt I'll be attacking up years again,at any price.
I bought a 512 GB on ebay for roughly the new prices. This is back when I had just for the Xbox and was trying out all sorts of games on GP because I hadn't had a modern system in 10 years. I was always deleting things. Now that I've settled down and have a better idea of what I like playing, I don't really need the card, but it's handy to have for the XSS.
I don't think removing day-one releases would change much for me. I'm half way through a deeply discounted 3 year stacked subscription to Game Pass. The real question for me is whether I would renew at full price again at all. It's a great service, but I've bought so many games on deep discount over the last 18 months, I've got a huge backlog. I probably won't renew, for a while, until I've used all the value from games I've actually bought!
My daughters are huge Potter fans, but neither has much interest in an open world RPG type game like Legacy, but I bet they'd happily spend a few hours a week playing each other in Quidditch.
I wish they would make these available via streaming. I'm on holiday at the moment, when I could really get into a good NHL session, but obviously don't have my Xbox with me. They had Madden 20 (or maybe it was 19) to play via streaming, but no EA Sports titles since then. Anyway, I'll download and play when back at home.
@PJOReilly no worries. To be honest, I thought I might have missed an acquisition as EA hasn't updated NBA Live since 2019, so thought maybe they had bought 2k and stopped producing NBA Live. Doesn't matter, the only NBA game ever worth playing was NBA Jam on the SNES.
I have an Series S, and I was certainly swayed to buy one instead of a Switch on the back of A £1 trial of GPU where I used my phone and a controller. So, for me, they got a decent return on the £1 trial offer, although I stacked via CD Keys via Turkey, so only paid about £70 for three years.
It would be brilliant if MS delivered this via streaming, basically bringing GamePass streaming to a Nintendo device. I'm many years away from buying another console, but I spent a lot of time going back and forth between buying a Switch and a XSS. I went with XSS because I wanted to play modern Madden and NHL games, but having done that, I've decided it wasn't worth giving up Mario and Zelda! So, I'd happily buy whatever Nintendo offers up next and then steam Xbox games to. In fact, given how much MS loses on each Xbox it sells, it would probably prefer me to do this 😂
I only got back into "modern" gaming at the end of 2021, after only having a Wii since 2010. I've bought more games this year then I probably will ever but again. But two of those games were Sonic related which never seem to come to GP and one was A Lego one, which seems unlikely to come to GP. I love GP though, so many great indie games, Bute also some big titles too. However, I find theAAA titles so complex, that I end up going back to puzzlers, Sonic and Lego, because the one thing I've learned this year is that gaming should be FUN!
I'm only a casual gamer and usually buy Nintendo, but as the Switch doesn't have either a realistic ice hockey or American football sim, the S made the most sense for me. Did contenplate a used PS4 or XBO, but in the end got a used XBS because it us next gen and it had Game pass, which I managed to get for 3 years for about £70. Really am very impressed, as a cost conscious casual gamer, with the XBS.
I debated for a long time whether to get one or not, I have a Series S. It is overpriced, but I got a 1TB version on eBay for £144. I'm fortunate enough to be able to afford it, but I'm pretty cheap by nature
I had an old internal SSD hooked up via a USB3 caddy and that worked well enough. However, I switch between EA sports games most of which are all series X/S optimized, and Forza, and several other games that are optimized. And when I play with my kids, we all play different games together that are optimized, and I just didn't have any room left internally, so was going to have to start swapping.
Given that I have three kids and very limited gaming time, I decided I'd rather spend my gaming time gaming, rather than transferring games from external to internal.

Re: Review: MLB The Show 23 - Another Solid Outing With A Standout Storylines Addition
It says "EA's NBA 2K", but I don't think that is correct. EA has nothing to do with 2K, not that I could see on the EA Wikipedia entry anyway...
