Last night, we were treated to the surprise shadow drop of Lord of the Rings: War in the North - Legacy Edition on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S (along with other modern platforms) courtesy of Aspyr, and we've now also got some first footage of how it's running on both of these consoles.

Aspyr didn't really say much about what's been improved here compared to the 2011 Xbox 360 original, but it's now confirmed that we have a resolution and frame rate boost, and it's also apparently been "optimised" for solo play.

On Xbox Series X, Lord of the Rings: War in the North - Legacy Edition runs at 4K, 60FPS and looks pretty nice for such an old game that hasn't been fully remastered, and the crucial thing is that it runs at a seemingly locked 60FPS.

On Xbox Series S, we're looking at a 1440p resolution that only appears slightly downgraded compared to its Series X counterpart, and once again there's no sign of the action dropping below 60FPS in initial footage.

We're going to leave you with videos of both of these consoles courtesy of Fuzion Xbox Testing down below, but it also should be noted that the Legacy Edition had a rough start yesterday in terms of its online servers, with players unable to connect to online co-op or access Xbox achievements throughout most of day one.

It seems those issues are starting to be fixed for the most part now, but just keep in mind that you may have a few teething issues with the online portion at launch. Otherwise, this seems a pretty great re-release at a reasonable price!
