It was only a couple months back that our wish for Mafia: Definitive Edition to get a current-gen upgrade came true. The news broke when fans spotted an ESRB rating for Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PS5.

Well, if dots are to be connected and patterns are to be followed, then we may well see Xbox Series upgrades for both Mafia II: Definitive Edition and Mafia III: Definitive Edition now they've been ESRB rated.

Here's a look at the ESRB ratings:

Mafia: Definitive Edition's Xbox Series upgrade ended up running at roughly ~1440p and 60FPS on Xbox Series X, and about ~1080p and 60FPS on Xbox Series S. It was a welcome upgrade that removed the awkward 30FPS cap whilst bringing a whole bunch of technical improvements.

When the free upgrade was finally announced by Take-Two, owners of the physical Mafia: Definitive Edition oddly weren't eligible. However, this was a bit before disc-to-digital became a feature and things may be different now. Fingers crossed, if an upgrade is on the cards, physical disc-owners can get in on that 60FPS action too.

Currently, Xbox Game Pass members can snag the Mafia: The Omertà Collection for 50% off. This includes the Definitive Editions of Mafia 1-3, as well as the newest entry, Mafia: The Old Country. Hopefully, if the ESRB rating is an indicator of upcoming upgrades, then grabbing the collection could be a solid bet.
