A few years ago, one of the games that was all the rage in the VR space was an indie fantasy adventure title known as Moss, and after eight years, it's just been revealed that it's finally making its debut on Xbox Series X and S.

This version will be known as Moss: The Forgotten Relic, combining both Moss and Moss: Book 2 into one standalone title. In the game, you'll play as a little mouse known as Quill, with the goal being to guide your "determined hero on a heartfelt journey of challenge, courage, and connection" via a mix of exploration and puzzles.

To mark the transition from VR to consoles, the game also now features "handcrafted cinematography through newly designed cutscenes and camera systems, alongside modernized visuals and platform-specific enhancements".

It'll be interesting to see how much impact Moss makes on the flat-screen world, but as someone who has enjoyed using a Meta Quest over the years, playing the original title is definitely an experience I remember fondly. The visuals were great, the vibe was charming, and I'm eager to check this one out when it lands on Xbox in summer 2026.

Here are some more details and screenshots for Moss: The Forgotten Relic:
