In another look at Forza Horizon 6, the IGN First program has gone into a bit more detail on the seasonal weather changes coming to Playground's new open-world racing title, with a bit more context from members of the dev team as well.
In short, seasons are back in a bigger way than ever in FH6; taking more direct inspiration from how they worked in 2018's Forza Horizon 4. Each of the four seasons will provide a drastically different experience in Horizon Japan — just as they would in real life — but this time around, the team has been conscious to keep the Winter season fun for all players.
"When we think back to the lessons that we learned from previous games, there were components of Horizon 4 that people were maybe less fond of when it came to certain seasons - and a great example of that would be Winter.
It was pretty fun at first, but we found with time that players eventually started to grow a little bit tired of all the roads being covered in snow all the time. We wanted to learn from that [...] the Japanese are actually pretty good at keeping their roads clear, so our asphalt roads - generally those are clear from snow."
It's not all aesthetics when it comes to Winter in Forza Horizon 6 though, far from it. The team went on to mention that off-road routes will be covered in snow and provide a much tougher challenge overall, whilst the map's Alpine Region will contain snow throughout all four seasons; for those players who want that sort of driving experience all-year-round.
You can see more of the team talking about this and showing it off in the video up above, and we'll also link to some of our other coverage on Forza Horizon 6 for IGN First down below.
