Xbox's Blizzard Team Announces Multiple Showcases Laying Out The Company's Future

Diablo, Overwatch, WoW & more to feature

Blizzard has today announced four upcoming showcases detailing the future of Diablo, Hearthstone, Overwatch and World of Warcraft - as it hones in on a big year of 35th anniversary celebrations.

Yep, Blizzard turns 35 in 2026, and it's going to announce news regarding these big four franchises as we look towards the future for this famous Xbox team. All four showcases take place over the next two weeks or so - here are the full times for each show:

World of Warcraft - January 29th at 9am PT / 12pm ET / 5pm GMT
Overwatch - February 4th at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm GMT
Hearthstone - February 9th at 9:30am PT / 12:30pm ET / 5:30pm GMT
Diablo - February 11th at 2pm PT / 5pm ET / 10pm GMT

As for what exactly to expect from each event, it's hard to know for sure right now - especially because these are all ongoing games that are still getting supported in 2026. Will we see some sequel announcements? Possible console ports for the likes of WoW? We'll find out here in the coming weeks.

@themightyant Agreed. Its nice to see these massive games get supported, but a studio with nothing new in the works would worry me.

Honestly, unless there are some console announcements in the first 2 showcases, then for console gamers the pickings are exceptionally light.

When it comes to Overwatch, the changes they made when launching Overwatch 2 have not been that warmly received, and it's kind of surprising to see it get a showcase of its own. The game feels like its on life-support, but then it has been a few months since I last played it.

I am interested to see what they do with Diablo though, and would love to see them port WoW over to console in particular, however I doubt that will be happening. Whether we would see the likes of Starcraft even mentioned is doubtful, in my view, bearing in mind that each of the show is linked to one particular game, rather than it being a showcase highlighting multiple games. Indeed, I think if Starcraft were to be being ported to console, for example, then the game would have its own showcase, so I think that is highly unlikely.

Something to be read about afterwards, rather than taking the time to watch the showcases, me thinks...

Yes, I saw that, @Shinato2024. I do hope it is real, and that it comes to consoles. My point was that I don't think it will get a mention during these presentations purely because each showcase is dedicated to a particular game. I could easily be wrong, of course, but I would have thought they would have a separate show for Starcraft, just as they are with Overwatch etc, particularly so if it is coming to consoles, or is the rumoured first-person shooter...

1. WoW Consoles and new DLC.
2. Diablo 1 Remake.
3. Overwatch 2: new heroes and game modes, and resumption of campaign mode development.
4. Hearthstone updates.

@Titntin A studio not supporting their games with actual content would have worry me more. You can ask anyone who plays these games, and the major complaints is lack of substantial content. A lot these games are sinking sleeps... Blizzard should worried about righting the ship on those, and not adding more their plate if they can't properly support what they already have.

@AverageGamer Thank you, thats not a viewpoint Id considered as I simply don't play these games. I would have hoped they could service the games they have and still develop a new IP, but Ive little info on how the hierarchy is within Blizzard.
