As part of today's Tokyo Game Show 2025 broadcast, Microsoft officially confirmed Forza Horizon 6, after the community had basically willed its Japanese setting into existence over the past few years. It follows 2021's Mexico-themed Forza Horizon 5, which just came to PS5 earlier this year as Xbox continues to move games over to the Sony system. That means FH6 will be moving over there as well then, right? Well yes, but not straight away.
Alongside some additional information on FH6 provided by Microsoft and developer Playground Games, we got some extra details on the team's release schedule as well. The game debuts on Xbox Series X|S and PC next year, but the PS5 version is set to arrive "post-launch".
"Discover the breathtaking landscapes of Japan and become a racing Legend at the Horizon Festival in Forza Horizon 6, which will launch first on Xbox Series X|S consoles and PC in 2026, and PlayStation 5 post-launch. Wishlist now on the Microsoft Store and Steam!"
As for when exactly that PS5 version will drop, we don't know right now. FH5 took years of course, but that's because Microsoft's new third-party strategy has only developed in recent months. We'd expect FH6 to be much more akin to something like Indiana Jones and the Great Circle — which had a roughly six-month exclusivity window — but we'll bring more information on Horizon 6's release schedule as and when we get it.
In the meantime, you can check out the game's first teaser trailer down below - and we've also gathered up some early Xbox Wire details on the game and its Japan setting underneath as well.
