A few months ago, 2K and developer Hangar 13 finally unveiled Mafia: The Old Country footage in what's turning out to be a pretty short preview cycle for the game - and now courtesy of IGN, we have a deeper, almost 10-minute look at gameplay from the team's upcoming Mafia prequel.
So, we've thrown that fresh footage up above for you folks to take a look at. The clip contains a good mix of driving, combat and action scenes - interspliced with some of that strong voice and cutscene work that the Mafia series is known for. This is all taken from the 'Villa' section of Mafia: The Old Country's fifth chapter.
"Check out nine minutes of exclusive gameplay from the 'Villa' section in Chapter 5 of Mafia: The Old Country, the upcoming narrative-driven action-adventure prequel in the Mafia series, set in early-1900s Sicily. Stay tuned every Monday in July for IGN's Mafia Mondays, where we'll have exclusive content from The Old Country, including the world's first hands-on preview next week."
We'll be looking forward to that hands-on preview mentioned up above as well, because we really don't know what to expect from this new chapter of the Mafia saga. 2K is delivering this as a bit of a budget release here in 2025 — coming in at just £45 / $50 for the base game — and the team has confirmed that the title isn't open world either, which is quite different to the setup for 2016's Mafia 3.
Beyond that preview, and likely more to follow from other outlets, you don't have long to wait before trying this game for yourself. Mafia: The Old Country hits Xbox Series X|S in just a few weeks' time - on August 8th, 2025, to be exact.
