Xbox first-party title State of Decay 3 finally reemerged at the Xbox Games Showcase last year for the first time since 2020, and following the event, we started to hear it could perhaps even be targeting a launch at some point in 2025.
That seems unlikely to be the case now though, as Windows Central reporter Jez Corden has suggested it's probably going to arrive in early 2026 instead - in fact, he even says he'd bet money on it arriving next year.
Here's what Jez mentioned during a recent chat on the Xbox Two podcast:
"[Microsoft] were considering State of Decay 3 for 2025 as well, it's closer to being finished than you would think, but I think they are going to let that one slip to 2026. I'd bet money that's a 2026 game - like, early 2026."
It's definitely surprising to us that State of Decay 3 could be in a state to launch this time in 2026, as we've really not seen anywhere near enough from the game to raise our hype levels in recent years.
That said, we're expecting to see more at this year's Xbox Games Showcase in June, and here's hoping we might learn of a release date at the same time. Early 2026 sounds good to us - next year's shaping up well already!
