When it comes to "fan games" based around famous IP, we already know that some companies really frown upon it and end up shutting the project down. Fortunately, that's not going to happen to Halo fan game Spartan Survivors.
The team behind this blend of "roguelite and bullet heaven" have confirmed on social media that both Microsoft and Halo Studios have approved of the project, even going as far as to help them ensure it always remains compliant.
They are understandably very thankful for the decision, as you can see in the tweets below:
As mentioned, Spartan Survivors will indeed be coming to Xbox consoles in addition to Steam, and you can actually play it right now on itch.io if you're interested. It looks very Vampire Survivors-like, and we're definitely all for it.
You can see some footage of the game in the trailer up above, which actually mentions all the way back in November of 2024 that it would be coming to Xbox. Apparently, they were going to do this by following Microsoft's "Game Content Usage Rules", but they needn't worry as much now - they've got official approval to put this out into the universe!
Fight hordes of Covenant & Flood in this new game mixing Roguelite & Bullet Heaven for hours of mindless fun!
