With the announcement of Black Ops 7 earlier this month, Call of Duty is going back to the future for the first time since 2018's Black Ops 4 - and just like that late Xbox One era release, this COD title will be reigning in its futuristic elements to a certain degree.

As we were shown during the title's Xbox Games Showcase debut, Black Ops 7 is very much a futuristic Call of Duty game. However, features like wall running and jetpack movement will not be returning in the upcoming title, Activision has confirmed. Here's that information being revealed, directly from the team:

These sorts of advanced movement mechanics were core parts of Advanced Warfare, Black Ops 3 and Infinite Warfare - when the Call of Duty series first moved into futuristic territory. In the years since though, the FPS has gone back to boots on the ground gameplay, with Black Ops 7 looking to continue that recent trend here.

As you can see in the above clip though, Activision has teased that the upcoming title will feature an evolution of 'omnimovement' - the new player movement system first introduced in last year's Black Ops 6. The team will demonstrate just what that means in the coming weeks and months, where we assume Xbox will be leading into a late 2025 release for this next Call of Duty title.
