The team at Microids has announced that Syberia — the early 2000s point-and-click adventure classic — is getting a full remake this year - with Syberia - Remastered headed to Xbox Series X and S later in 2025.
Another one of those releases that straddles the line between remake and remaster, this new version of Syberia is a "faithful and stunning overhaul" where "every environment has been carefully rebuilt" to match modern standards and launch on modern consoles.
Here are some of the game's key features:
- A Faithful and Stunning Overhaul – Meet Syberia’s iconic characters fully redesigned and explore the game’s most emblematic locations brought to life in beautifully enhanced 3D. Every environment has been carefully rebuilt with an art direction that stays true to Benoît Sokal’s unique style, offering an even deeper immersion into his singular visual universe.
- Reimagined Mechanical Puzzles – Enjoy a fresh take on the game’s intricate puzzles, redesigned to provide a smoother and more intuitive experience while preserving their essential role in uncovering the secrets behind Voralberg’s genius.
- A Modernized Gameplay Experience – Rediscover Kate Walker’s journey with an updated user interface, improved 3D navigation, and more fluid controls tailored to today’s standards, all without compromising the game’s contemplative and narrative soul.
- A Rich and Immersive World – From the alpine town of Valadilène to the frozen edges of Eastern Russia, Syberia transports you into a world of mystery, automatons, and poetic machinery. Dive into a clockpunk adventure where realism blends seamlessly with dreamlike wonder.
- A Moving and Unforgettable Story – Experience a deeply human narrative, as Kate Walker’s legal assignment turns into a profound journey of self-discovery. Filled with unexpected encounters, emotional choices, and moments of awe, Syberia’s tale blurs the line between strangeness and the sublime.
With gameplay mechanics enhanced alongside graphical changes, Syberia - Remastered is going all the way when it comes to its re-release later this year. The team is clearly hoping for a more modern experience as a result, and here's a quick peek at how this will all look on your Xbox Series X|S consoles in 2025:

Loved this game back in the day. I just finished the most recent one. It was real good. Definitely will be playing this one. But I'm a bit confused. It states "A full remake this year with Syberia remastered." So which is it? A remake or a remaster? Big difference.
@Romans12 It's always hard to say these days, but considering the team is changing puzzles and gameplay mechanics, I'd say remake? But they're calling it a remaster... confusing!
Oh well, I just played the original Syberia 1 and 2 last month on the PS2 emulator, and Syberia 3 on Switch in order to play the most recent one, The World Before (which I haven't played yet as I'm waiting for a discount).
Truth be told, the first and second games are infuriating puzzle-wise. I hope this one makes things more streamlined so that we don't need to open a walkthrough guide every five seconds.
By the trailer, I'd call it a remake rather than a remaster. It's visually stunning and seems to be using the same gameplay mechanics as The World Before. I'll be looking forward to it.
Wow... I'm old !!
Is it me or.... Old studios with old IP are too lazy to create sequels ?
Those are the same games... But with a better look. Wow... I'm not impressed!!!
@Kezelpaso I've given up talking about this to people online, because they'll call your opinion stupid while failing to present their own. I've recently tried for the first time on purexbox and the people who pretend to "know it all" vanished when they had to answer a few simple questions. Alas... I still blame Activision and the Crash trilogy for this mess
@johndoe89 Benoit Sokal, who was the creator and driving force behind the Syberia games has since passed, so I see this more as them trying to have the existing games all playable on modern hardware and polished up, to honour his legacy.
As to whether there will be completely new games in future remains to be seen.
Isn't this the game with the protagonist that looks like Lara Croft?
