Halo Infinite Celebrates The Festive Season With Free 10-Tier Event Pass

I haven’t experienced desync since the update nearly at all which has been great.

Their matchmaking is still atrocious though. I had six straight games yesterday where I was the highest scoring person on my team and we got slaughtered. I don’t understand how that can happen over and over.

Campaign: I'm still working through it in co-op (more players more scheduling problems), It's good so far dose feel like it's not using its semi-open world well enough ATM.

Multiplayer: I still miss assassinations.

5/10, the content is getting there but the game is a lot more unstable. I think Infinite should've been an ODST style release where the focus is the campaign and the box includes the full MCC/Halo 5 so those who want multiplayer have something.

@abe_hikura I will replay the Infinite campaign at some point. At least mission replay. Possibly on PC instead of console this time.

The only Halo campaigns I've replayed are CE and Reach.

5/10. Very Average.

Campaign was a joke with it ignoring everything they did before. Just to introduce time traveling aliens. They ruined the awesome Banished we had in Halo Wars.

Still has hit registration issues, likely due to desync. And vehicles showing different places on two different screens that are side by side. Still no Infection mode. Missing good maps.

Might be a game I suggest to people some day. But it isn't there yet.

@FatalBubbles This seems to be the common theme in online gaming. Complaints from you with this, complaints from Overwatch 2 players about that, I know with certainty that's my experience with Splatoon. How can multiplayer matchmaking be so utterly broken and still have customers almost universally? Seems to me like the whole concept doesn't work.

@Grumblevolcano Funny thing is it was clear the multiplayer was the focus, including mtx and the campaign felt like a side-thing.

Sold 8 for me right now. It's in a place where it should have been at launch. I think the Live team are starting to turn it around but it's like doing a tight turn in a cruise ship. A ghost cruise ship and now we're starting to see passengers on board.

As much as I don't like to see Halo this way I think Halo Infinite's failure was the straw that finally broke 343's back. They've been doing whatever they feel is best for 10 years and screw the players but this shift in the last 3 months has been refreshing. I just hope it's not lip service before they get cocky again and go back to their usual ways.

2023 will be the deciding year for Halo Infinite.

Finally supporting the fans, they need to do a lot more free season stuff mixed in with their F2P business model

I'd give to a 6 or 7. Campaign was fine, nothing special. MP was fun for a few hours but definitely not something I'd sink a ton of time into. Still, glad they're sticking with it and hope it improves over time

@NEStalgia It’s not fun to lose because your teammates are much worse than the other team. I don’t understand their matchmaking but it’s awful in actual execution.

I don’t have any experience with those other games to comment.

@FatalBubbles I know the feeling well, despite it not being in Halo. It just sounds like that's somehow the "normal" of online games universally. Which really makes me wonder how the genre is actually popular.

I clocked just over 3 days total play (finished campaign and lots of MP) loved it initially. It was the best FPS to come out, alongside Battlefield and COD vanguard, infinite was the better of the 3. However, although initially hooked I quickly stopped playing around this time last year, after the Christmas armours obtained and battle pass completed. I’ve not played it since. As much as I love Halo, sadly it wasn’t a return to greatness that I’d hoped for. IMO the staying power of halo 2 and 3 wasn’t there. Campaign was a 1 and done, felt a bit empty in places, environment became bland and the supporting characters weren’t as good. Looking back I’d give it a solid 7.5/10. Good but not great and the chief deserved better.

@FatalBubbles Only problem is I don't play halo multi, and you don't play Splatoon

I miss the Arcade Shooter roots of the Bungie Era Halo games. Starting with Halo 4 it felt like they cared more about it being a competitive e-sport than fun, and starting with Halo 5 they put more effort into microtransactions than anything else... 343 really should've stayed the remake squad. At least we have the MCC I guess.

I’ve re-download it today and am really enjoying it again. Definitely worth having in your collection, I think the problem is the first 3 games were so good at the time. Although infinite is good it won’t go down in gaming history like some of its predecessors.
