343 Industries has today treated us to a massive new end-of-year update for Halo Infinite, featuring the long-awaited arrival of a Custom Game Browser, along with a new multiplayer map, complimentary cosmetics and much more.

The Custom Game Browser means you can "start and join a Custom Game using any map and mode combination, including content created in Forge", available via the Community tab on the main menu.

"The Custom Game Browser lists currently active Custom Games that players can join immediately without waiting in a lobby. Once the Custom Game ends, all players in the session will remain in the same Fireteam. The Fireteam leader can then start a new Custom Game."

This is "V1" of the Custom Game Browser, which was originally supposed to launch in 2023.

Halo Infinite Adds Custom Game Browser, New Multiplayer Map & Much More 2

Elsewhere, a new multiplayer map is available in the form of "Empryean", which is the new version of "The Pit" from Halo 3, rebuilt in Forge by the 343 Industries team. The map is available in matchmaking and custom games as of today.

Another big focus of this update is customisation, with 343 making the decision to give the Mark VII, Mark V [B], Rakshasa, Yoroi, and Eaglestrike Armor Cores to all players for free, while all 10 Cadet Coatings have been added to existing Armor Cores for free as well.

"Variety, as they say, is the spice of life, and we hope that having these options as the bedrock of customization in Halo Infinite provides players more options to outfit their Spartan to their liking."

Other areas that have been targeted in the update include upgrades to mouse and keyboard controls, fixes for network and desync issues, and improvements to sandbox updates along with in-game player reporting.
