Grand Theft Auto 6

Rumours of Grand Theft Auto 6 have been swirling for years now, which is understandable, given it's been almost a decade since Grand Theft Auto 5. Well, we now have it straight from the horse's mouth: GTA 6 is in "active development" at Rockstar Games.

The team has tucked this tidbit in its latest community update, which goes over the next-gen version of GTA 5, among other things. Rockstar acknowledges how long GTA 5's life cycle has been, and that players have been asking for info on the next instalment.

With the unprecedented longevity of GTAV, we know many of you have been asking us about a new entry in the Grand Theft Auto series. With every new project we embark on, our goal is always to significantly move beyond what we have previously delivered — and we are pleased to confirm that active development for the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series is well underway. We look forward to sharing more as soon as we are ready, so please stay tuned to the Rockstar Newswire for official details.

What's pleasing here is that Rockstar clearly wants to one-up GTA 5, which will be no small feat given that game's critical and commercial success. You can bet your bottom dollar GTA Online will feature heavily but, Rockstar, we're so ready for another GTA campaign.
