Stardew Valley is expected to hit Xbox Game Pass later this year, and it seems the version we receive may be the final product. The game's developer Eric 'ConcernedApe' Barone has recently commented on how he's unsure whether any more updates will come to the game, as the primary focus right now is on their next game.

As spotted by Eurogamer, a conversation between Barone and Zach "UnsurpassableZ" Hartman took place during the first official Stardew Valley Cup, and revealed some interesting information about the game's future.

"I'm not saying there's going to be another Stardew Valley update. I don't even know at this point. I am focused on my next game. So, we'll see."

The last major update for the game arrived back in February when version 1.5 launched, bringing a wealth of new features. As put by our sister site Nintendo Life, Barone has made similar comments such as this in the past and expressed uncertainty for the game's future.

"I would not be surprised if there’s another Stardew Valley update, or multiple updates, or a Stardew Valley 2. Who knows? There’s isn’t currently a Stardew Valley 2; after 1.5, I’ll decide what the next step for Stardew Valley is. But I would say there will probably be another step for Stardew Valley. In the meantime, I’m also working on a couple of new projects – solo projects – so I have plenty to do."

There's no specific release date for Stardew Valley on Xbox Game Pass yet, outside of a vague comment of it being "sometime in the fall". The amount of work Barone has put into the game over the years is staggering, expanding on it in so many ways, prompting other developers to replicate the formula. Whatever he has up his sleeve next, we're definitely interested.
