It's no secret that Remedy is building something big. It was confirmed last year the developer is working to create the Remedy Connected Universe - a way of ensuring all their titles intertwine. It started with mentions of Alan Wake in Control's main campaign, before later expanding into a fully-fledged expansion. With Alan Wake Remastered right around the corner, it sounds as though the studio has a few more tricks up its sleeve.
In an interview with Axios, the game's communication director Thomas Puah spoke about some potential changes in Alan Wake Remastered. Up until now, we've known about certain differences, such as the removal of battery product placement, but this sounds a lot more exciting.
When probed about the possibility of Alan Wake Remastered being altered to connect to other Remedy titles, Puah responded: “Definitely pay attention by playing the remaster, is what we’re going to say.”
That certainly sounds like a tease for some potential crossover material buried within, most likely in the form of new collectables. It seems as though Remedy is using Alan Wake Remastered to attempt to familiarise their audience with the character and his story, before later adventures no doubt reintroduce Wake.
It's rumoured the series is being set up for a planned sequel, but we'll have to wait and see on that front. Until then, you can dive into Alan Wake Remastered on October 7 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.
Would you be happy to see some new connections in Alan Wake Remastered? Drop us a comment and let us know.

Another remaster, how about some new games please developers.
Gonna be honest as I have a series x and PS5
If it wasn’t for Pyschonaughts 2 and also Sonys games, this year is fall of dam remakes and remasters and terrible on series x for a new generation from home studios AAA wise.
I actually doubt Halo campaign which I hope I’m wrong and also next year from Xbox studios.
It all seems to quiet with no game play shown etc, just lists on paper with no substance.
Come on Microsoft where is your HZDFW, GT7, Forspoken and GOW 2 actual gameplay equivalents, with confirmed release dates, ok apart from GOW 2 only 2022 maybe.
The only real comparison right now is FH5 so thank you playground games
@Dezzy70
It's a remaster of a former Xbox exclusive game to setup the audience across all consoles for a potential sequel or heavier cross-over with Control.
So I will give this a pass unlike other lazy cash-ins.
2021 has been sparse for exclusives though.
@blinx01
Yes I get you as PlayStation have never had Alan wake I don’t think.
It may help sales of the Alan wake 2 who knows when it gets released 2030 sometime 😂
On current AAA games release rates.
Does look that remastered to me. But then Alan Wake on series X is already fantastic.
Get Quantum break in the mix
Is Alan Wake Remastered really a timed exclusive for PS? It comes out 10/4 on PS and 10/7 on Xbox? Weird.
@Dezzy70 Hate to say it, but I doubt the remake and remaster craze will be subsiding any time soon. Each year there’s more of them. They’re quicker and cheaper to make and they sell. Imagine the release schedule this year without remakes and remasters though… Yikes!
@SplooshDmg At this point, I am almost expecting that future of gaming. Lol. With Battlefield charging gamers like $20 for one week early access already, anything is possible
@StylesT I think the female character who is the lead in Control was in another role in QB. Muddies the water a bit unless they are doing some multiverse *****.
@somnambulance In an industry where AAA games take between 3 to 5 years to make. You need to fill the gaps with something. Remasters of old favourites (specially when its been more than 10 years) I think is justified. I personally tried to get into AW when it was on GP and I felt it hasn't aged well so I didn't play it. Now I can and PS gamers never had it basically.
