We got our first look at the returning Alan Wake in Control's AWE expansion trailer the other day, and now Remedy has announced that it marked the first step in something it's calling the 'Remedy Connected Universe'.
The company says it has been planning to use its games as "doorways to a large universe" for the past ten years - "a connected world of stories and events with shared characters and lore."
"Slowly, patiently, behind the scenes, we’ve been planning and plotting to make this a reality. I’m absolutely thrilled to tell you that now, the time has come to take the first concrete step on this road, establishing Remedy Connected Universe. You have no idea how happy it makes me to be able to finally make this statement.
What took place in 2010 in Alan Wake is one of the cases that the Federal Bureau of Control has been investigating. The AWE expansion is the first official Remedy Connected Universe crossover event, bringing more Alan Wake lore into Control."
And yes - Remedy says it's already "hard at work" on a future game that will be set in the Remedy Connected Universe, so we'll likely see more cameos and crossover opportunities down the line.
Intrigued about this? What do you think of the Remedy Connected Universe idea? Let us know below.

As long as the game is good, then 👍🏻.
@GunValkyrie
Says who?
@GunValkyrie Lmao, funny but worryingly possible considering.
@GunValkyrie Will never happen...Alan Wake was Microsoft Studio IP
Remedy have been doing good work, and Alan Wake was far better than people give it credit for.
Remedy are one of my favourite developers. A good idea and unlike many film shared universes, Remedy seem to understand it's the slow and steady way of connecting the dots that lead to a better shared universe overall. It's not a remedy IP but I also can't wait to play their Crossfire campaigns.
@Z3u5000
Didn't the rights revert back to Remedy?
Anyways, not sure about the idea of a connected Remedy universe. I guess it depends on what they do with it.
@Richnj
Really enjoyed Remedy over the years. Love Max Payne 1 and 2, Love Alan Wake. Never played Quantum Break. Really wasn't a fan of Control though. Makes me sad.
Really liked Alan Wake, not so much a fan of Control. Definitely interested in what they do next.
I might give Control a try, Just waiting on for a sale..
I’d love a remaster of Alan Wake, one of the best story driven games on 360 in my opinion
@GunValkyrie hope not, but prepared in case.
@Z3u5000 Remedy controls IP and publishing.
@pip_muzz Remedy control all it's IP now and going forward.
@Kmcroc5472 They certainly don't own Crossfire though. That's contract work for them. Its owned by a Chinese company and been going on for several years.
@pip_muzz I was not including crossfire in that scenario for they are a hired hand in the development of crossfire by helping Smilegate.
@Grot
Yes, I plan to someday. Unfortunately I don't currently have anything capable of running it.
@Z3u5000 PlayStation had the Control DLC as a timed exclusive earlier this year.
I loved Control- I haven’t given Alan Wake a try yet but I’m interested in this whenever it comes out.
As long as they hire Matthew Porretta again, I'm looking forward to their next project.
@Kmcroc5472 Alan Wake DLC also coming to Xbox go check.
If its again a timed exclusive game/dlc, I will pass on any remedy game until they are dirt cheap on a sale.
