A remaster for the Xbox 360 classic Alan Wake appeared on the Epic Games Store a couple of months ago, and now it's been all but confirmed that Alan Wake Remastered is heading to Xbox (and PlayStation) this October.
An October 5th listing has popped up for the game on Rakuten Taiwan, and Niko Partners senior analyst Daniel Ahmad has advised on Twitter that Alan Wake Remastered will be getting its official reveal sometime next week.
That's pretty much all we know so far, although Windows Central has also verified with its sources that "this is indeed real, and the game was slated to be revealed in the very near future regardless."
If you've never played it, Alan Wake was released back in 2010 by Remedy Entertainment (Control, Quantum Break), officially described as "the body of an action game and the mind of a psychological thriller". It proved to be a success for Remedy, and Alan Wake himself recently re-appeared in Control's AWE DLC.

Loved loved this game. Do recommend.
Depends on how "Remastered" it is. Love the original. I have an unused code for it as well I got with Quantum Break.
Alan Wake is an absolute gem; a true original. It's one of my favourite games and I can't wait to give the remastered version a go.
If they are willing to be acquired remedy seems like a studio Microsoft should go get along with asobo since the history is already there
It was on gamepass recently and it was okay. The story was cool but actually playing it kinda sucked.
Meh remasters barely are ever any different than the original so I ain't paying full price for it....although I'd defo play if it comes to gamepass
Will probably be revealed at the Playstation event! This will hopefuly mean a sequel in the future!
This can be a straight port and I will still buy it on all platforms.
And I obviously have to buy it multiple times to make up for all the normies who will skip it because it doesn't have a battle pass and xp per play session.
I'd rather they remastered / remade Max Payne 1 & 2 but that would probably be too much effort
Great news, played this to death on 360. Day one buy for me.
@Would_you_kindly That would be down to Rockstar and Take2, they bought the Max Payne IP from Remedy a long time ago.
@sirmrguitardude that’s how control was for me. The graphics were awesome story was very interesting but playing was such a chore and obnoxious.
@Shigurui probably never get another Max Payne then with rockstar owning the IP
It was a great game. I won't be playing it again as my backlog has no room for replays but for those that haven't i highly recommend playing it. Can only imagine it being better with the remaster.
@Would_you_kindly Sadly, I think you're right about a new game. I could see MP3 possibly getting remastered as it'd be a lot less work than 1&2 but I doubt we'll ever get a fourth game.
I think Rockstar own Max paynes rights now as I think they brought them then they made max payne 3
For some reason i just never played the original but it's always been a game i've heard good things about and would be interested in trying now that i enjoy more single player centric games than i perhaps used to. Will look forward to finally getting to play this with a remaster
Great game but the 360 version still holds up well. If it's a remake I'm in, if it just a fps boost/res boost I will stick with the original
The original was fantastic. As a Stephen King fan, I absolutely loved this game!
Have it on Steam and liked it a lot. But I think an increase in res or some such increase won't be enough to double dip. Great though if you don't already have it. The remake of Dead Space however is worth my pennies! bring it on.
i m a big fan of remedy games, but Alan Wake isn't my cup of tea.
I didn't like the controls, the protagonist walks like he's drunk and the gameplay is boring.
The graphics stil look good though (on pc i haven't played the console version)
@SplooshDmg After waiting 16 years for a Psychonauts sequel, 11 years seems fine lol
I'd probably get this, Alan Wake was a great game.
this is arriving just in time for spooky games month I'll be picking this up for sure
Definitely getting this..
I tried playing the game through BC when it was on GP but it had clearly not aged very well. A remaster is much appreciated.
I wonder what they've done with the licensed music? (Which is the reason the game was pulled from the store previously.)
Have they renegotiated this again or was it part of the previous renegotiation deal... or have they replaced it with non licensed stuff? Will be interesting to see
