Well, this could be interesting. Both Alan Wake Remastered and Final Fantasy VII Remake have been spotted appearing on the Epic Games Store, leading to speculation they may be arriving on other platforms.
Obviously it's worth mentioning these could just be PC exclusives, but Alan Wake Remastered is a completely new title and seems unlikely it could just be tied to PC. Previously, Remedy Entertainment signed a deal with Epic Games to publish two new multi-platform games - could this be one of them?
Both of these titles were found on the Epic Games store's backend, suggesting we may be hearing about them shortly. In terms of Final Fantasy VII, the recently released PlayStation 5 version Intergrade was confirmed to be exclusive to the system for six months. PlayStation exclusives that have previously moved to PC have appeared on Steam, so this seems to be a publisher decision. If it is moving across, we could be hearing something by the end of the year.
As it stands, it's worth taking these both with a pinch of salt until full confirmation, as it's entirely possible they could be a mistake or simply PC exclusives. But it begs the discussion for both titles, especially for Alan Wake Remastered, the original version of which was initially Xbox exclusive . With Remedy's next project seemingly developing a cinematic universe of all its games, it makes sense to introduce players to its world beforehand.
What do you think? Could we be seeing either of these titles this year? Let us know in the comments below.

I'm convinced that FF7 won't come to Xbox. Sony just won't let it.
Microsoft should have kept Alan Wake and Sunset Overdrive IPs. We could have had sequels to both games as Exclusives on X/S. That really would've been epic.
Epic has been signing sqaure exclusives ala kingdom hearts series and the rumour was epic is publishing Alan Wake 2.
So this doesn't mean the titles are coming to xbox
It depends on whether the FF7 exclusivity is on the standard version or Intergrade too? Intergrade no because it's exclusive for another 6 months, maybe the standard version could?
FFVII exclusive stuff is weird as when Yuffie was announced it was just her being touted as PS5 exclusive, and I took it to be like Avengers which Spider-Man will only be on PlayStation.
Then it was announced Intergrade 6 months exclusive, so is the PS4 version able to come elsewhere?
Can the remaster come elsewhere, but no Yuffie?
Will it come elsewhere in 6 months, but not Yuffie?
Will everything including Yuffie come elsewhere in 6 months?
If it's on the Epic Store then that means they've paid to make it exclusive. PS5 exclusivity runs out early December.
Xbox players will have to wait for this Epic deal to expire now as I highly doubt Square Enix will fund an Xbox port out of their own pocket. Unless we have another case like Outriders, where it comes to Game Pass on consoles but not on PC.
@Chaudy I'm surprised that Sunset Overdrive didn't do better on the Xbox One tbh I've not played a load of it but I had a blast, that's one thing that Sony have been good at doing keeping hold of IP.
I'm hopeful that we'll eventually get a sequel to Alan Wake one of the better games on the 360 imo
@Kopite yes exactly, Microsoft currently has a few good iPs but keeping Alan Wake and Sunset Overdrive would have really boosted the exclusivity potential. Not sure why they let both go.
Epic exclusivity doesn’t have anything to do with Xbox. If it did we wouldn’t have Ooblets.
I am a huge Alan Wake fan, and I'd expect that any remaster and sequel to actually be multiplatform.
@Chaudy maybe it was part of the deal, the devs keeping the rights, that made them exclusive to the Xbox.
It'll come to Xbox. Square demonstrated that it's committed to FF on Xbox overall over the past few years, and doubled down this E3 with that new weird Souls-like FF spinoff coming to Xbox at launch. Whatever antics Sony is doing with 7 will expire, and I'm surprised "Intergrade" is merely 6 months. Locking a PC game store with Epic affects Windows Store, but not Xbox console, or Game Pass (technically not a competing PC store.) It's a long pseudo-exclusive. We'll see what happens with XVII as well, but I don't think Sony's prepared to fully buy FF7, just rent it for a while.
Because it's episodic, though, PS is probably the better place to try to play it because we know the sequels will be time locked forever, so trying to play outside PS is going to be like a 15 year project.
@uptownsoul ah okay that makes sense.
@Kopite yeah looks like that's exactly what happened
Given how much Squenix love exclusivity deals, I wouldn't be surprised if the PC version is Epic only.
@Dezzy That’s pretty much the only platform Epic likes to pay for exclusivity with, PC. They are competing with Steam not console. Sony most likely didn’t wanna pay for total exclusivity for another 6 months. Keeping something only off Xbox is vastly cheaper.
However, Square-Enix likes Gamepass money too much to platform lock it off the Xbox forever.
I've just finished Control, what a ride never expected to be this good. After that I thought about giving a try to Alan Wake but I guess I will wait a bit if there's chance that remaster is coming
Idk i kinda losing hope on FFVIIR coming to Xbox
@Chaudy bruh if that FF Chaos game is PS5 exclusive right now, at this point i would even believe if someone tell me that Sony bought the FF IP
@endlessleep You mean Stranger of Paradise, the Team Ninja FF-Souls game? That's confirmed for Xbox & PC at launch.
@Chaudy I'm pretty surprised they didn't acquire Remedy back when AW launched seemed like it was a nailed on deal for a while
Final Fantasy should be on all platforms, I don't wanna hear any Sony ponies complaining about Bethesda and Starfield..
@NEStalgia yeah i know. Just my hypothetical situation since recent FF titles are on PS only for now.
@Terrin you mean the Kingdom Hears games I already own on Xbox? Because if so, your example pretty much points at FF7R heading to Xbox sooner or later.
@Tharsman sorry, I do know they are on Xbox I mean epic signed an agreement with square a few months ago starting with the kingdom hearts games going exclusivy on PC to the epic store.
My guess is the exclusivty deal Sony signed doesn't impact PC platforms
Alan Wake was an amazing game. I don't really want the remake of ff7 tbh. The perfect game got released 24 years ago. If it does come to xbox tho i will be happy for xbox people to play it XD.
I really hope FFVII comes over because otherwise I have to sort out the faff of borrowing a PS5 just to play that one game. Can totally get how exclusivity is a huge deal for Sony and MS. Unlike Switch, they are directly competing with each-other.
You would figure the timed exclusivity means that either it’s going to come in, or Squeenix is playing a very clever game with Sony
FFVII Remake will come to Xbox like all other Final Fantasy games. The original game and the Intergrade version have never been fully exclusive because Sony can't buy that.
FF7 Remake will 100% come to xbox by the end of this year and it will hit gamepass day 1
And I can see an Alan Wake being remastered coming out aswell since there's going to be an Alan wake 2 and be multi platform this time so sony players need to experience the first game hence the remaster
Don't care about final fantasy games atall...but Alan wake was great...more interested in the next game than a remaster though
I have played Final Fantasy 7 remake.
It is a letdown, I don't care if it doesn't come to Xbox.
@Kopite Sunset Overdrive was fantastic. Unfortunately, it came out when there were on 7 XB1s in the wild, so nobody played it. It does seem Xbox seems to struggle when making deals with 2nd party studios in keeping the IP for themselves. It seems on the surface that Xbox could’ve owned the Mass Effect, Sunset Overdrive, Alan Wake IPs. Oh well.
