Splitgate may be hitting turbulence with its servers, but that isn't stopping plans for an Xbox Series X and Series S upgrade at some point in the future.
In a recent Q&A with fans on Splitgate's Twitch channel (thanks, The Gamer), 1047 Games' CEO, Ian Proulx, confirmed a next-gen version is coming. It may not be anytime soon, however, as the developer's focus is sighted on ensuring the servers are up to standard first.
"We're going to do it. I'm not ready to share any specifics, but there's some obvious things that pretty much every game is doing that we will explore doing. We intended to have the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions out already. It's just been a matter of having 110% focus on servers as much as possible."
As it stands, Splitgate is still suffering on-and-off server issues. The immense success of the game has pushed its full launch until later this month, meaning the game is still in open beta.
While these issues still plague the game, the team has said it's "absolutely working [its] tails off" to ensure the problems are sorted. With such a small team and huge demand, it's no surprise, but hopefully in a few months when the next-gen version has launched, we can look back and forget about these initial teething problems.

Great news. It already plays really well on X so it’ll be great to see what the devs can improve on.
