Let's address the elephant in the room - Halo Infinite wasn't part of today's Xbox Gamescom 2021 Showcase, and many had anticipated we might have been treated to new footage and/or a release date at the event.
Don't be too disappointed, as while we're admittedly basing this on teases and speculation, it does sound like Halo might have a presence at tomorrow night's Gamescom Opening Night Live...at least according to these tweets:

Gamescom Opening Night Live is a two-hour event set to take place on Wednesday, August 25 at 11am PT / 2pm ET / 7pm BST / 8pm CEST, and all we know about it so far is that it will feature news on Saints Row and LEGO Star Wars.
Hopefully this is where we'll finally get a Halo Infinite release date, along with some new footage. Fingers crossed!
Do you think we'll get news on Halo Infinite this week, or are you sceptical? Tell us in the comments.

I prey to god that Halo Infinite is there tommorow, Because what we were shown today was a dumpster fire..
Well if you gonna go big then do it front of more gamers watching and gamers that own other consoles or are sitting on the fence next generation console wise.
Makes more sense than just showing on tonight’s stream, when it’s just Xbox fans.
Show it to a wider audience and get better advertising.
We shall see 😂.
@Bmartin001 Couldn't disagree more.
Would like a release date to see how it falls in the lineup of games I want to play though.
delayed to 2022
Whine whine whine waaah waaah waaaah. Gunk looks great, those indies coming to game pass, especially midnight fight express, looks insanely fun. Forza flashing it's gorgeous flare once again. Tomorrow, Psychonaughts 2! I see nothing to be negative about. Halo release date would be fine, but it's not as if there's any lacking in the games department.
@Bmartin001 I mean it was exactly what they said it was.. an update and deep dive with developers
@John117
Lol
@Bmartin001 agree completely. Only Forza fans could be happy with today’s event. Otherwise, there wasn’t much to be excited about. I mean, yeah, Psychonauts, but that’s so soon that it seems weird to highlight it in an event like this. Saving Halo for tomorrow (potentially) makes no sense.
@Ile I’m guessing you play PS5 majority of the time?
Halo Infinite Release Date to be revealed via tattoo, opening night.
Joe Staten can then explain to us how Cortana was going to be in the game at launch but she was busy wrapping up Windows 11 recordings so she'll be patched in in March.
Can't wait to test out bot matches.
@oconnoclast this sounds a lot like a you problem. Also, I genuinely don't believe you.
@oconnoclast combing back on your past comments and it seems like you have nothing but negative stuff to say, and then you're telling me you paid for a gamepass sub until 2024!? Despite not being interested in the games on offer. Let's admit it, you're not really here because you like xbox. Either you're stupid enough to invest in something you clearly don't fancy that much or you're full of crap and looking to argue a moot point. If On the off change you're legit, which you're not, why don't you buy a PS5 AND stop whining about something you clearly don't enjoy. It reminds me of that joke Ricky Gervais told. About the guy who sees guitar lessons on offer, grabs the leaflet, moans "but I don't want guitar lessons" yet attends anyway. Nobody is making you play Xbox or watch their content or even sub to gamepass. But yeah, you're a liar. I'm not gonna waste any more time talking to you, I've got a cup of coffee and psychonaughts to get to.
@oconnoclast for me gamepass is ace, I find it to be incredible value and have almost stopped buying console games entirely. However, Fifa and CoD don't exactly float my boat so you're taste is likely quite different to mine.
That being said, I also bought a SeriesX soon after release and I've been somewhat disappointed by the lack of true next gen games. This is why I was quite miffed last night regarding the lack of Halo content, this is one game I've been anticipating for years.
@oconnoclast I can see why you'd say that about flight sim, I quite like it for when I just want a chilled experience but I'm not a hard core simmer.
On gamepass I try a lot of games I wouldn't otherwise buy, the Art of Rally and Human Fall Flat being a two examples. I've sunk a lot of time into the core MS offerings such as Forza Horizon 4, Gears of War, Halo. Admittedly I already have Halo MCC and 5 on disc, but its convenient that I don't have to get up from the sofa and put the disc in a console (Super lazy right). I also understand your point that a lot of it is stuff you own or played in the past, but going forward with each new game release you'll hopefully find it more compelling and better value, right now it feels like the service is a bit of a promise of things to come.
I also quite like the idea that my XBox One X which has now retired to the bedroom will get a new lease of life with cloud gaming.
