The free Back 4 Blood Xbox open beta is out now, and if you've been playing it already (or you tried the early access beta last week), you might have noticed some teething issues with bot smartness and difficulty balance.

Fortunately, the team developing the game is well aware of this, and one of the big projects they're currently working on prior to the October 12th Xbox Game Pass launch is improving bots in particular.

Here's what VG247 reported based on an interview with lead producer Matt O’Driscoll:

"The bots in the Back 4 Blood beta are not very smart. They can shoot, and tag items for the group, but you can’t rely on them to do much more. This is something Turtle Rock is working on – it’s one of the team’s current big projects – and O’Driscoll said launch day bots will be smarter than the beta."

In regards to difficulty balance, we've experienced situations in which levels aren't perhaps as easy or difficult as they should be based on the setting you choose, and again, this is an area the team is focusing on based on beta feedback.

However, O’Driscoll reportedly "couldn’t commit to specific changes", but said the easiest difficulty (Survivor) and hardest difficulty (Nightmare) will see the most differences.

Regardless of all this, we've been enjoying our time with Back 4 Blood, and it's shaping up to be an extremely popular Xbox Game Pass release when it arrives day one in October. It just needs a bit more polish prior to launch.
