While Nintendo Switch owners may be getting a remastered Zelda entry this week, we'll also be getting our own taste of the formula. Death's Door from Devolver Digital is an Xbox console exclusive arriving on July 20, and the latest trailer shows off many Zelda influences outside of the game's combat.
If you haven't heard of Death's Door before, it's an action-adventure game in which you control a crow. You hunt down souls as a living, but it's not all doom and gloom. In fact, it has a very visually striking art style as evidenced in the trailer with a variety of environments. There's more to it than just combat encounters too, as the gameplay also showcases puzzle solving, world exploration and even item collecting that looks straight from Zelda.
Reaping souls of the dead and punching a clock might get monotonous but it's honest work for a Crow. The job gets lively when your assigned soul is stolen and you must track down a desperate thief to a realm untouched by death - where creatures grow far past their expiry and overflow with greed and power.
After E3 2021 we listed Death's Door as one of our most anticipated games from the show. If it's tickling your fancy, you can pre-order the game with a 15% discount on the Microsoft Store, so be sure to take advantage while the offer is live.

Looks pretty good! I assume timed exclusive? I’m usually good at following game news but I swear this year i’m falling behind with all these releases and keeping track of what is what.
Not much Zelda going on here really, but wow, this looks good.
Remember that other actionrpg game, supposed to be "similar to zelda" but came out with some rather perplexing gameplay. Below, I believe it was called. Haven't heard much about it since, release. Must've been mediocre, at best. Anyone played it? Hopefully this doesnt follow a similar path.
Looks interesting!
Installed and ready to go on Tuesday! I love their last game, Titan Souls. This is a huge departure from that but I have high hopes for this one.
@Bartig - It's not a Zelda clone per se, rather they loosely based it on that structure. Here's a good interview article where they talk about it.
