There have been rumours and speculation doing the rounds that Battlefield 2042 could be a day one Xbox Game Pass addition, but at the very least, the game will be getting a free 10-hour trial with Game Pass Ultimate as part of EA Play.
As highlighted by EA, members to the 'Play' service will get a range of benefits in addition to the trial, including early access to the Open Beta later this year, and the standard 10% discount off pre-ordering the game on the Xbox Store.
Note that the trial also begins on October 15, which is an entire week before the standard version of the game launches on October 22, so you'll be getting access to the trial alongside players who have bought the 'Gold Edition'.
Don't forget that we'll be getting the full gameplay reveal for Battlefield 2042 this Sunday, June 13, and it's been confirmed that it'll be part of Xbox and Bethesda's mammoth E3 2021 showcase at 6pm BST.

Does anybody know if the 10 hours would be limited to the multi-player? Or could we access the single player as well (is there a single player)?
@Tarps There is no single-player unfortunately!
So, not fully on GP then but this is a pretty nice bonus for members who want to try the game out or get a head start 😁
@FraserG good to know, thanks for the info!
No single player? Then I fully expect this to be cheaper than previous titles
Here I was thinking this sounded pretty interesting and that I might actually get this Battlefield, then I saw no single player. All interest= lost.
No single player =( Ah well, still holding out hope for Crossfire X
@UltimateOtaku91 it will almost certainly be full priced Activision did the same with black ops 4 & people still payed full price for it
@Originut yeah just saw the other article with the price after I wrote that comment I'm not much of a multiplayer gamer so I won't be picking this up at any price anyway but it sounds way over priced for what it is especially if it will have lootboxes & micro transactions in it & it's EA so that's a probability
Unless this is on Game Pass, I doubt the game will get much of an audience when you have Halo Infinite and probably Crossfire X.
Crazy how they want to charge £70 for this with no campaign and charge for Battle Passes.
No thanks EA.
This is how rumors can come out and bite everyone. This is a far cry from the “on GamePass day one” everyone was expecting.
@UltimateOtaku91 call of duty wasn't cheaper on black ops 4. Better be getting a lot of MP content and free map dlc. Not looking like it'll be on game pass, but I'll wait until after Xbox conference before I completely rule it out.
Will this be the xbox one version though or the next gen version?
