Rare's Sea of Thieves recently celebrated its third anniversary, and now, to top it off - this unique pirate sandbox has been recognised as the 'Best Evolving Game' of 2020 at this year's BAFTAs.

It managed to fend off other titles such as Destiny 2, No Man's Sky and Fortnite. Indie hit Hades took out a total of five awards and the 2020 game of the year (which was the only public vote) went to The Last of Us Part II.

Rare recently shared the following message to the Sea of Thieves community, thanking everyone for their support and promising that there was more to come:

"Thank you again to all the players who have joined us on our journey so far – across Xbox Game Pass, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows 10 and Steam. We wouldn’t be here without your support and we can’t wait to show you what we’ve got coming in the rest of 2021. See you on the seas!"
