One feature of a lot of gaming headsets is the ability to remove the ear padding for cleaning or even to replace them.
It seems the Xbox Wireless Headset is no different. A post on the Xbox Series X subreddit by user 'chocoloctol' shows how the pads on Microsoft's new headset can be easily removed. Here's the full clip:
As noted, they're "easy" to remove, but harder to put back on. Admittedly, we're not game to try this out on our own headset just yet, but it might come in handy in the future if they do need a clean.
Xbox's Erik Garcia also demonstrated this on the Xbox podcast last week. At this point in time, Microsoft hasn't said anything about offering possible replacement parts for its new headset.
