Update (Tue 9th Mar, 2021 15:30 GMT): Microsoft has announced today as part of its completed acquisition of Bethesda that more games will be added to Xbox Game Pass this week, so we're recycling this guide from January to give you an idea of what we could see. Which games do you want the most? Let us know down below.
Original story (Wed 20th Jan, 2021 17:30 GMT): Back in September, Microsoft dropped the absolute bombshell on us that Bethesda's parent company, ZeniMax Media, would be acquired by Xbox Game Studios in early 2021 for a whopping $7.5 billion.
As part of that deal, Microsoft announced plans to bring Bethesda's "iconic franchises" to Xbox Game Pass, and while some of them have already arrived since, there are (hopefully) plenty to come as well. Below, we've gathered a list of every realistic addition under the Bethesda banner to potentially look forward to in 2021.
Bethesda Games Already Included With Xbox Game Pass
- Dishonored 2
- DOOM Eternal
- Fallout: New Vegas
- Fallout 76
- RAGE 2
- The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition
- The Elder Scrolls Online
- Wolfenstein: Youngblood
Bethesda Games Expected To Join Xbox Game Pass In 2021
- Dishonored Definitive Edition
- DOOM (2016)
- DOOM
- DOOM 2
- DOOM 3 BFG Edition
- DOOM 64
- DOOM Eternal: The Ancient Gods - Part One?
- DOOM Eternal: The Ancient Gods - Part Two?
- Fallout 3 (Xbox 360)
- Fallout 4
- Prey
- RAGE (Xbox 360)
- The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind (Original Xbox)
- The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (Xbox 360)
- The Evil Within
- The Evil Within 2
- Wolfenstein 3D (Xbox 360)
- Wolfenstein: The New Order
- Wolfenstein: The Old Blood
- Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus
Of course, there are no guarantees we'll get all of these games, and Microsoft might even seek to bring some surprises into the mix via Game Pass for PC and backwards compatibility, but these seem like the best bets for now.
They're just the tip of the iceberg though, as most future Bethesda games are expected to be joining Xbox Game Pass on day one as well, including Starfield, The Elder Scrolls 6 and the recently announced Indiana Jones game.
Which of these do you most want to see on Xbox Game Pass this year? Tell us in the comments.

I'm interested in Pray, Wolfenstein New Order and Colossus. Replaying Morrowind on TV would be interesting experience. Also in the day I never finished Oblivion addons, would be nice to finish it on TV in 60 fps.
It would be really good if they ported the other older Wolfenstein games to Xbox too, everything from Spear of Destiny up to The one before the new order. That would be awesome to play through them all like you can with Doom
Still can't believe Xbox owns Bethesda and all these legendary IPs
What an awesome library of games to hit Game Pass when they do. There are a lot of games there that I have been interested in but never got around to buying.
I haven't played a single Wolfenstein game so looking forward to trying them. Have Young Blood on my play later list already.
If Skyrim drops on the Windows Store, I'll be a happy camper
So much to look forward to!
My play plan is as follows:
-Evil Within 2
-Prey
-Dishonored series
-Wolfenstein series
Also Doom Eternal as soon as the X/S update drops
Cannot wait for this to happen!
That’s what you call a studio purchase.
Now let’s see goods, already enjoying Doom Eternal.
@Bmartin001 It doesn't. Yet.
Well the deal is expected to close by June, so hopefully we'll have some Game Pass goodness throughout the summer.
It would be weird if Morrowind wasn't included after the update that has it rendering at 4:3 4K, near instant load times, and stable frame rate.
@Bmartin001
I know, right? It’s so awesome.
I don’t think it’s sunk in yet for us Xbox gamers. I love Bethesda’s games (with some exceptions), so this acquisition was perfect for me. They were my favorite 3rd party publisher/developer.
Now they are in the family. 😁
@Krzzystuff
Youngblood is, by far, the worst Wolfenstein game (in my opinion).
Playing the previous games (when they come to Game Pass) would be recommended. They are single player games with a focus on story, so without playing them.....Youngblood will not make much sense.
Just a tip. 😁
@KelticDevil greatly appreciated. I hate hopping in midway through a story.
@Krzzystuff
No problem. You don’t need to play Wolfenstein 3D or the 360 game (which is underrated, but was an Activi$ion game unfortunately), but starting at The New Order (which will come to Game Pass eventually) is the way to go based on the story of the games.
If you start at Youngblood, it will kill your love for the franchise right away & you won’t know what is going on story-wise.
Glad I could help. 👍🏻
@everynowandben i played Doom Eternal for a bit and gotta say that the platforming is a massive negative for it. I'll be jumping back in but i recall it being pretty bad.
Given how Game Pass has the XB1 Halo Spartan Assault, Halo Wars Definitive Edition and MCC over the 360 versions I'd guess Game Pass gets the XB1 DOOM Slayers Collection instead of the 360 backwards compatibility versions of DOOM 1-3.
@Krzzystuff I've heard its not everyone's favorite aspect of the game, yet overall the game is still quite well reviewed and held in high regard by most. Either way, I've loved (and beaten) every other game in the franchise so I'll be shocked if I don't love Eternal as well.
What about bringing a bit more games?
I wonder if we'll see DEATHLOOP and GhostWire: Tokyo in Xbox Game Pass for PC on day one or we'll have to wait one year as well.
It saddens me that Quake as a franchise never gets some love from Bethesda(Quake Champions is *****, i want epic single-player Quake experience).
Alright oblivion! Really didn’t feel like reinstalling it and the controller mod.
Some huge heavy hitters here. I have been holding off on buying a few for exactly this reason.
@Krzzystuff @everynowandben The Doom Eternal platforming is mostly terrible but the added manoeuvrability in combat is exhilarating. I went back to Doom (2016) after Eternal and while still a landmark game, it is sorely missed, and somehow almost feels sluggish by comparison.
The gunplay is also a wonderfully refined dance when it clicks. Balancing out frantic manoeuvring, strategy of weapons on different enemies, using chainsaw, flamethrower, super shotgun and glory kills to keep armour, health and ammo high is truly wonderful. I realise it's divisive but going back and being able to basically just use 2 weapons in Doom (2016) was a huge step back for me. Both remain wonderful regardless.
Excited at the prospect of Dishonored and Prey coming to GP! Also, I'd love it if classic Doom games hit GP. More than Doom (2016) which seemed to be a gloried arena shooter to me. Doom 3 was better IMO. Haven't tried Eternal, but I don't feel the urge to do so.
Excellent news for Game Pass subs.
It'd be awesome if we got the OG Xbox port of Return to Castle Wolfenstein (although I have no idea if Bethesda has the full rights to this?)
Since Dishonored DoaS is sold separately, I wonder if that will make the cut as well.
I do hope these game will also all come to GamePass on Windows.
I'm sorta looking forward to co-oping the old DOOM games "for a giggle"
Think I'll finally given Evil Within a go. And probably go through Wolfenstein again. Exciting times although I hope they don't replace other potential game pass games as these games are very old and most of them have been played to death 10 years ago.
May even give Skyrim another go and see if I can actually complete it on my 4th platform. Every time it bugs out and I can't physically complete the game. 360 (think it was the game that RROD it), PS3, PC, PS4, PSVR (although stopped because it made me feel sick!). Perhaps Series X will be the edition that I can actually finish it....yeah no chance I'm trying that again! 😂
question when mouse support and update to series X|S?
Good I hope Microsoft kicks these games into high gear and actually makes them instead of the Bethesda just sitting on the IP
Some absolute gems in that list.
Think we'll slowly be drip fed them rather than one big drop.
Dishonored: Death of the Outsider, the standalone DLC for Dishonored 2, needs adding to that list!
I also wonder if they'll include the expansions for The Elder Scrolls Online, Elsweyr and Greymoor?
