Thinking about picking up Prey... This Prey will definitely not come to GamePass with the Bethesda stuff, correct?
Also currently playing through The Darkness and so far I feel like it's just okay - would anyone recommend the sequel? Is it less clunky? Are the mechanics more refined? Just more of the same?
Edit: I watched a couple reviews on YouTube and yeah, TD2 looks way more colorful, definitely better art direction, better HUD, includes RPG elements, more populated environments, faster gameplay, and apparently less clunky controls - but also more linear/worse level design.
I would still welcome personal opinions if anyone would like to share their experiences.
@everynowandben that Prey definitely won't. I personally prefer it to the newer version too. Can't say for The Darkness 2, reviews seemed to be positive though.
Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey are must plays for JRPG fans
If I didn't have a physical copy of Blue Dragon, I'd be all over it at that price. MGS is tempting, though, since I've never played the second game in the series.
I also own Darkness 2, which is a great game and worth picking up.
Everyone avoid the 360 version of San Andreas, you'll be doing yourself a favor.
@everynowandben I've played the second one, and I personally enjoyed it. I can't say if it's better than the first since I haven't played that one, but since it's going to be like $8 it's worth giving it a go.
@ResoluteCustoms @Emob @IronMan30 Thank you for your thoughts
@Trainer @Trainer That is correct.
I didn't see Lost Odyssey until you guys listed it! So thanks for that, I've been waiting for it for quite a while.
@Emob whats up with the 360 version
I might get the silent hill hd collection never completed Any of the classic Silent hills
couple of games im interested in because of the huge sale going on the X Box Live store.
Dead Rising 4, Blue Dragon, Just Cause 3 and 4, Silent Hill 2 and 3 HD Collection, Dragons Dogma.
Dang. Too many good games on sale
Wow, some damn good games there for ridiculously low prices.
I definitely want to highlight some of them, otherwise you people might miss out on some really great games.
People, do yourself a favor and get Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey if you're looking for a great RPG, especially don't miss out on the former. It came on two discs and it is MASSIVE. Also, if you're into third person shooters, do not miss out on Spec Ops: The Line. Great story, engaging gameplay and solid game all around.
If you want something entirely different and entertaining to scratch that first person shooter/action adventure itch, then give the two The Darkness games a go.
And if you're looking for a nice, entertaining hack 'n slash action RPG, you might just want to pick up Realms of Ancient War for just two bucks.
Anyway, I'll skip all the obvious candidates and big titles, because these are obvious no-brainers, and I'll end with saying that RTS fans should definitely pick up XCOM: Enemy Within. Another solid title in this list.
@everynowandben I own and enjoyed both games in the Darkness series, and what you describe, pretty much matches my sentiments. Mind you: I played the first one back in the day when it was still relatively new, so today's eyes are probably a lot more critical towards its features.
On a side note: I got the first game because I was a collector of the original comics series of The Darkness, so soon as I found out that they actually made a game about it, I just had to have it.
With the second game, they added some refinements, and the mechanics improved, so you could say they really got the hang of it there. Either way, I could already quite easily recommend both games, but at their current price, it's an absolute no-brainer...
I find GTA4 frustrating. Have it on disk so don't need it, but would be nice to have a digital copy.
But every time, they cut the price to like 7usd, and they cut the price of lost and damned dlc, but ballad of gay Tony DLC remains at 19.99, quite a tall order for a DLC even today, much more for one so old.
Oh, add to that, the DLC still need to be purchased through the 360 marketplace or on a 360 console...
@Would_you_kindly Bugs, and weird design changes. The worst bug is that the game can softlock after completing one of the flight tutorials, and it can happen every time you finish it. Which completely locks progression. Also the story rhythm games (lowrider competition and beach party) button prompts are off beat. There's more, but there's a vid on YouTube that goes into great detail about why the ps3/360 versions are inferior to there last gen counterparts.
@ThanosReXXX Thanks for your thoughts! I ended up finishing the Darkness last night. Haha... It might have been decent in 2007, but yeah, it has not aged well at all.. The premise is cool, and the story is okay, but it's clunky, chunky, colorless, slow, bad animations, shallow mechanics, empty environments, brain-dead AI...
That being said, I picked up the sequel and am hoping it'll be better! Hahaha...
@everynowandben Well, if you managed to wrestle your way through the first, then the second one will almost feel like a warm, welcoming bath, or any other metaphor that might please you...
But you're welcome. And if you're even remotely interested in comics, then you should definitely read the original comics that these games are based upon: they're quite a bit better than either of the games.
Just in case: https://getcomics.info/other-comics/the-darkness-vol-1-3-extras-collection-1996-2017/
And if you don't have one yet, you'll also need a comic book reader program. This one also works on tablets, for easy reading on the go.
@everynowandben On a side note: I think I'm going to try and see if I can free up some time to play a bit of the first game this weekend, because even though I can agree with clunky gameplay, I don't vividly and/or specifically remember it having bad animations, although it also depends on what you specifically meant by that.
For now, I interpreted it as being stuttery, having a bad frame rate or something to that extent, but feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
@ThanosReXXX Thanks! I'll look into the comics - I noticed I unlocked at least one issue by calling the collectible phone numbers in game, but I only quickly glanced at it. I'll give it an actual read a little later and see.
By bad animations I mean everyone moves in a very stiff/unnatural manner when walking or gesturing, and quite often characters mouths are way off lipsync or don't move at all when they're speaking. However, the breakdancer animations were actually not too bad now that I'm thinking of examples.. I played on Series X - no stuttering or frame issues whatsoever.
@everynowandben Wow, these still work? That's actually a pleasant surprise. But you'd still need to view them on a TV or monitor, right? If so, then the comic book reader option is probably still the more user friendly option...
