Cyberpunk 2077 has once again been the talk of the week for all the wrong reasons, and it all started with a statement this past Monday where CD Projekt Red apologised for the state of the game on last-gen consoles.
Today, PlayStation's decision to pull the game from its digital store has pushed Cyberpunk 2077 into the spotlight once again, leading to one bemused BBC News anchor giving this very sarcastic report (turn up the volume!):
"...The issues have wiped more than a billion pounds off the value of the game's creator, CD Projekt, which said - rather brilliantly, this is my favourite line of the day - it 'should have paid more attention to making it play better'. Genius. Absolute genius. Brilliant. Brilliant. But anyway, at least you'll get a refund..."
The latest word from CD Projekt Red is that it hasn't been talking with Microsoft about removing Cyberpunk 2077 from the Xbox Store - although it seems possible that could change - and ultimately the company is currently focusing on preparing some major patches to solve various issues with the game in the early part of next year.

Many non-gaming news sites have picked up the topic because it's popular and there is so much money involved. Also, I suppose, gaming continues to become mainstream as gaming generations take leadership roles in other industries.
This mockery is hillarioys and fully deserved.
As a silver lining for all gamers this will hopefully help light a fire under consumers asses to stop pre-ordering until they have actually seen the product and hold the developers accountable. Developers will hopefully also be scared of pushing out games to early if shareholders are scared of their stock taking a hit.
If you order a steak and i serve you all the sides prepared and an uncooked steak will be you be okay with that? Why are people ok with paying full price for an unfinished game? The experience is ruined for a lot of people so they have every right to be pissed at CDPR. Sony is really doing some great moves shifting all the focus away from their policies and looking like a steward for consumers but EOD let them have it if it helps shift the industry a bit.
CD Project Red deserves all of this mockery and more.. Hats off to the BBC news..

This guy who does a lot of the daytime coverage on BBC News 24 is so hilariously sarcastic about the banality of most of the news he presents:
American media kind of sucks. Definitely prefer getting my news from BBC when I can. Them and the Associated Press.
Scathing. Wonder if she was burnt by Cyberpunk and is letting out her frustration or just read the situation as "Product released broken. Share value wiped. Company says 'we should have focused on not selling something broken'". Simply put like that from an outside view must sound like the daftest thing to read.
Pfff. Hundred Cyberpunk posts a day on PushSquare and PureXbox. How about investing time in some great reviews instead?

What a disaster this game is. Let this be a lesson to this developer and all others: release your game before it’s finished and it will fail.
I am not glad about the situation, but i have never belonged to CD Project worshipers. I think that they are overvalued among audience and this vindicates it
@Bartig I mean it's the biggest game of the year, billed as the biggest game of the generation, so big it had Keanu Reeves on stage at E3 at the Xbox show. And it's melting down in real time in cross media from ign to BBC to Wall street journal. It's the biggest gaming implosion since Atari launched E.T. and decimated gaming itself in it's wake.
This is the moment where you light up, hit the remote detonator and walk away in slow motion. It deserves the daily attention 😉
The last straw will be Keanu Reeves sueing to have his likeness removed from the game due to an obscure clause in his contract (in the event the project damages his reputation and livelyhood due to negative press and pubic outrage).
I really can’t tell if she’s someone that doesn’t play games and amused by the ridiculousness of a game maker not bothering with how well their games plays, or maybe someone that plays games and knows all about how disappointing this was. The expression she makes when mentioning refunds actually makes me think it might be the latter.
