Rare has revealed that Sea of Thieves has surpassed the 15 million mark in terms of players, which is a major increase on the 10 million that was announced as recently as January.
The developer says Sea of Thieves had its best month for active players in June, with over 3.3 million players setting sail. A contributing factor to this was the game's launch on Steam for PC, with that version having already achieved over one million sales and some fantastic player numbers as a result.
It seems like Sea of Thieves is only going to continue to get more popular as we head into the Xbox Series X generation as well, with the game already confirmed to benefiting from enhancements on the console.

It's a great game, a lot of fun with friends and the most beautiful game of the generation 😁.
Right behind Halo, this game is some of the most fun I've had playing a game with my friends. There's just so much content and always stuff to do, and it's still getting content added over 2 years later which is just crazy to me how long Microsoft has supported it.
@Bezbot World of Warcraft is what, 16 years old now and still being supported? As long as there is content MMO's can go for such a long time.

It looks amazing to me and I am colour blind, so it's right up there.
