Art of Rally (Xbox Series X|S)
It may seem like a little bit of a change of pace, a soft and gentle arcade take on rallying action with a wonderfully relaxing visual style, but Funselektor Labs' Art of Rally is, in fact, a bit of a wolf in sheep's clothing. This is a delightful rally offering with surprisingly sim-minded handling in its generous array of new and classic cars. There's a brilliant career campaign here that takes you on a journey right from the '60s to present day race action, as well a secret-strewn free roam mode and a ton of cool vehicles - all with impressively unique handling models - and liveries to unlock as you go. If you're looking for some super slick arcade rally action, you'd do well not to miss out of what this little cracker's got to offer.

DIRT 5 (Xbox Series X|S)
An action-packed arcade entry in the venerable DIRT franchise, DIRT 5 is one racer you're definitely gonna wanna grab if you've indulged in a next-gen console. This is hands down one of the most spectacular looking racers available right now and those good looks are backed up by some top-notch action once you hit the muddy tracks here. Some series fans may decry the shift from sim to full-on arcade racer, but we reckon this is one fast and frantic effort that's well worth jumping into, especially since it's now available with Game Pass!

Wreckfest (Xbox One)
Did you like FlatOut or Destruction Derby back in the day? Then you're going to love Wreckfest. This racer is all about breaking rules and causing as much destruction as possible, and features incredible physics designed by developer Bugbear, which previously worked on FlatOut and FlatOut 2. The fun multiplayer, combined with the hilarious variety of vehicles including lawn mowers and three-wheelers, makes this a great game to play with friends. Wreckfest has also now been treated to a delicious next-gen update, so playing on Xbox Series X|S delivers 4K visuals, slick 60FPS action and improved graphical fidelity.

GRID Legends (Xbox Series X|S)
2019's GRID reboot brings Codemasters series back onto the track, and then GRID Legends takes the concept to the next level. Legends opts for a mixture of arcade thrills and simulation seriousness that delivers some fantastically flashy and properly engaging racing action. There's just something endlessly exciting about taking part in events here as tracks are always jam-packed full of cars, making for lots of really tight, ferociously fought battles where you can even get yourself a nemesis to duel with should you happen to rub another driver up the wrong way. GRID Legends delivers high octane, high-contact, aggressive racing action that's a blast to engage with.

Disney Speedstorm (Xbox Series X|S)
Some of us here at the PX office have been enamoured by a certain Xbox kart racer that left early access in late 2023, so yeah, we feel like Disney Speedstorm deserves a spot on this list! Encompassing a huge swathe of Disney cartoons and characters, Speedstorm is a super-compelling racing package - especially in its now-free-to-play form.
It helps that the game's on-track gameplay matches up to the calibre of IP on show as well. Disney Speedstorm is just fun as heck to play across its various single and multiplayer game modes, and we're absolutely in on this one for the long haul. If you're after a new kart racing obsession on Xbox, look no further than Disney Speedstorm.
- Xbox Game Pass: No (Base game is free-to-play)
Forza Motorsport (Xbox Series X|S)
There's something for everyone with the Forza series! While Forza Horizon is based on exploring big open world maps and racing in slightly more arcade-like conditions, Forza Motorsport is all about replicating the hardcore simulation aspects of the sport. Just like previous entries in the series, that's exactly what the reboot sets out to achieve.
Instead of going to Forza Motorsport 8, the team over at Turn 10 decided to give the franchise a refresh with its Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S debut, suggesting we could be looking at many years' worth of content for the new Forza Motorsport in the future. If you're intrigued by this one, it's definitely something to add to your download list.

Currently have a few racing games in my backlog that I've never played yet, Thanks for reminding me..
Pretty decent list alright, so yeah, I agree with it.
Great list! Though of course add FH3 to the list but overall stellar choices!
Forza Horizon 3 and Team Sonic Racing should be there in my opinion.
I've missed out on the Xbox One, but if I do get an xbox series x at launch (which seems quite likely atm), I'm going to pick up Forza Horizon 4 straight away!
This list should be.....
Forza Motorsport (pick a number) &
Forza Horizon (pick a number).
Simple as that.
Yup, agree with the list but I actually prefer Horizon 2 & 3 over FH4. Wrekfest is great and Burnout is a favourite, agree with takedown and revenge being even better though. A good rally game is WRC8. After a pretty bland sixth and seventh entry theyve managed to make a great rally game.
FH4 is a fantastic game...but I would say that as I am in the UK. I loved the fact cars were on the right side of the road...when I use the roads anyway LOL
Wreckfest sounds interesting.
Meow Motors Is really purrfect
It's been many years since we last updated this, so we've given it a refresh for 2024! We'll keep tweaking it as time goes on
@FraserG Haha! I did wonder for a split second why the posts were dated 2020🤣 I used to play Wreckfest on the PS4 many years ago and loved it, and to be honest, I never realised it was on GamePass, so guess what I'll be downloading tonight 🤔
Highly recommended:
FH5
Hotwheels Unleashed
Wreckfest (online multiplayer is amazing)
Rocket Racing (online multiplayer)
CTR
Hotshot Racing
Dirt Rally 2 (Rally Cross is amazing)
I have had a blast with all these games, and they all feel amazing when drifting!
If you like arcade racers, Dirt 5 and GRID Legends are superb.
