Rare Replay (Xbox One)

Released back in 2015 to celebrate Rare's 30th anniversary, Rare Replay is a splendid compilation that spans the developer's work across multiple genres and console generations. From the ZX Spectrum right up to the Xbox 360, there's a treasure trove to explore here and it's enhanced by behind-the-scenes footage, interviews, snapshot and rewind functions, built in cheats and more besides.

There's so much to dig into here, and GoldenEye 007 recently joined the lineup as well! With the likes of Sabre Wulf, R.C. Pro-AM 2, Blast Corps, Battletoads, two Perfect Dark titles, Jet Force Gemini, Killer Instinct, Banjo Kazooie and a whole heap more, this is a fascinating history lesson and boatload of fun-times all rolled into one.

Jump Space (Xbox Series X|S)

Jump Space came out of nowhere to become a surprise hit on Xbox when it launched as a Game Preview (early access) title in September of 2025, arriving at a budget price and actually serving as a timed Xbox console exclusive!

This game is a co-op PvE adventure where you serve as the crew on a spaceship, and it's perfect if you're either an FPS fan or someone who likes the idea of space combat. The best bit is that there's a free trial you can access on the Xbox Store, so it's well worth a play if you like the sound of it!

Keeper (Xbox Series X|S)

Double Fine's indie-style adventure Keeper might not carry the same weight as a Brutal Legend or Psychonauts 2, but it's still well worth playing, especially if you're into a mix of puzzles, light exploration and gorgeous visuals.

The story isn't much to write home about, but the stunning landscapes and surprising twists still make this a standout Xbox exclusive in our opinion, especially if you're an Xbox Game Pass subscriber. Our biggest tip for Keeper is to go in without any knowledge of what to expect, and try and stick with it beyond at least the first few hours.

Rhythm Doctor (Xbox Series X|S)

Rhythm Doctor is one of those games that's almost certainly gone under your radar as an Xbox console exclusive, but when it released in 1.0 form back in December 2025, they decided to prioritise the Xbox version first and wait until the future to develop a PS5 and Switch version. We're not sure why, but we're so glad they picked Xbox!

This game is an absolutely fantastic rhythm title, particularly if you're a fan of the Rhythm Heaven games from back in the day, featuring catchy tunes, a memorable story and cast of characters, and a really simple one-button gameplay system that's deceptively simple — some of the later levels will really test your rhythm skills!

Quantum Break (Xbox One)

Quantum Break is one of the most sophisticated cinematic experiences on Xbox, with lavish production values, convincing performances, and a riveting sci-fi plot.

Remedy delivered up a third-person action-adventure game with the spectacle of a summer blockbuster and structure of a TV series here and, although the commitment to delivering a rich, layered narrative isn't always conducive to top-notch gameplay, it doesn't diminish how engrossing this is as an entertainment experience overall. The combination of intense time-bending action, gripping story, and cutting-edge presentation make this the kind of game that sucks you in and doesn't let go until the credits roll. While it's not quite as inventive as it thinks it is, Quantum Break is fresh, ambitious, and a heck of a lot of fun.

Forza Motorsport (Xbox Series X|S)

There's something for everyone with the Forza series! While Forza Horizon is based on exploring big open world maps and racing in slightly more arcade-like conditions, Forza Motorsport is all about replicating the hardcore simulation aspects of the sport. Just like previous entries in the series, that's exactly what the reboot sets out to achieve.

Instead of going to Forza Motorsport 8, the team over at Turn 10 decided to give the franchise a refresh with its Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S debut. If you're intrigued by this one, it's definitely something to add to your download list.

Halo Wars 2 (Xbox One)

2017's Halo Wars 2 is a fantastic RTS-spin on Halo and still has us yearning for a sequel almost seven years on. Creative Assembly worked with 343 to deliver a great console-catered RTS experience here, and the game's Xbox One X enhancements mean this one still looks and plays great on Xbox Series X in 2024.

Halo Wars 2 lets you control entire armies of Marines, Warthogs, Scorpion tanks and Spartans on the battlefield, and its narrative slots nicely into the overall Halo storyline as well. We'd love to see more of this sort of thing arrive for other Xbox franchises, and years later we still treasure our time with both Halo Wars franchise spinoffs. HW2 definitely deserves a spot on this list!

Ryse: Son of Rome (Xbox One)

Ryse: Son of Rome feels a lot like a Call of Duty styled Xbox exclusive in Roman clothing. The bloodthirsty combat and fast pace at the heart of this game gets the adrenaline pumping, and it's packed full of set pieces that are undeniably bombastic and spectacular across the board.

There's an impressive amount of intensity and attention to detail in this one, and it's intensity that's maintained for the duration of the roughly seven hour campaign. Yes, there are some issues with clunky controls and repetition here and there, and the whole thing falls just short of what we'd hoped it would be, but the narrative is well put together and expertly delivered and there's still plenty to enjoy overall. It's also, in hindsight, a bit of a treat to have such a spectacular adventure not take weeks of our lives to complete, with the brevity of the adventure here a plus point in this age of enormous, bloated AAA titles.

Gears 5 (Xbox One)

Gears 5 is an absolutely essential entry in the long-running Xbox exclusive franchise that sees the Gears right back at the top of their game in an action-packed adventure that's fully playable in co-op either locally or online. There’s a strong campaign here, surprisingly character-driven stuff for a series that’s known chiefly for its brutal battles, it manages to pack an emotional punch while serving up all the carnage fans have come to expect and more besides.

With the Ultimate Edition of this sprawling adventure available on Game Pass, alongside the truly excellent Hivebusters expansion, there’s no excuse not to grab some friends, ready your Lancers and get blasting some Locust scum across the main campaign, Escape and Horde modes! Gears 5 is a massive package of brutal, bloody good times.
