This game is sooo weiiirrdd, in a great way. The combat is alot more fun, I'm enjoying it alot! @DRL hey do you know if enemies stop respawning after you kill them x amount of times?
@DRL@A_BabyRed_Yoshi I spent a couple of hours on it last night. It is a HUGE map and more than a little confusing. I only died once in the time I played but I was being super cautious. First impressions are that it is going to take a very long time to complete it and I don't like Firelink as I think its too big for a hub, I preferred 2's hub. I haven't used the new attack thing (I believe its two hand your weapon, hold LT and press RT?), so I don't know what sort of difference that makes. Going to spend a lot more time on it and get accustomed to the new systems and world. Graphics are certainly a step up too, it looks very smooth and detailed, I love the little bits of fire on the character.
@crippyd: When it comes to surface area, Firelink Shrine isn't as large as Majula. Not unless you're counting the surrounding cemetery, but you rarely need to venture through there once you've explored it the first time. I wasn't a huge fan of Firelink at first, either. I thought there was too much wasted space. But once I realized NPCs would start filling that space, I really began to like it. When it comes to weapon arts, I'll just say to experiment with LT, LB, and RT. It seems like many weapons work very differently in this regard, as I was able to squeeze out new moves depending on which of those buttons I pressed separately or together.
@Utena-mobile: Yep, there's a password system. You can set a custom password from the in-game menu so you can be summoned by your friends. I haven't experimented with it enough yet (going to do so this afternoon before finishing my review), but I've heard level disparity between you and your friend doesn't matter; the game automatically limits/balances your strength to match the host until the end of the session.
@DRL Thanks for the info on the weapons Dave. That's great news on the coop front, it could be a bit of a pain to get a game going on 2 and especially on 1! Is it still the same (that you can only coop so far and not have a traditional coop experience) as 2?
@crippyd: I still need to fool around with co-op further, but it's definitely got some of the same quirks. Here's a guide if you want specific details now.
@A_BabyRed_Yoshi: The Ashen Estus Flask is used to replenish the blue FP meter, which depletes when using spells or weapon arts.
@A_BabyRed_Yoshi: Every weapon has a special attack that can be performed when in two-handed mode. Press Y to two hand a weapon and then mess around with LT and RT to see what it does. I know certain bows can go into rapid-fire mode and certain swords allow you to do a charging attack. There's a ton of variety, so be sure to check and see what each weapon can do.
@DRL: what is the deal with those freaky black worm monster abominations? Certain enemies just change and become pretty much invincible! ...what is going on haha
Any tips for fighting them?
@A_BabyRed_Yoshi: There aren't many of those, actually. The best way to deal with them is to run at the host and kill him before he has the opportunity to transform. Otherwise you should use firebombs from a distance. Or avoid those enemies altogether.
I've only had chance to spend a couple of hours on it but so far it isn't sucking me in like the other two did. I'm obviously going to give it loads more time and hopefully I will get more invested in it.
@crippyd: the faster paced combat makes it almost impossible to learn an enemies combat moves and how to dodge them, it makes it significantly harder than 2 for me
