Well, I've bought quite a few things.

Alan Wake
American Nightmate
Life is Strange 2
The Sinking City
Mad Max
Massive Chalice
Splinter
The Witcher 3 GOTY (got it on PS4 but since I'll never have a PS5, wanted to have the next-gen version for the free update)
Roguebook
Lord of the Fallen Complete Edition
Splinter Cell Blacklist
Sherlock Holmes Chapter One. This is the one I'm most hyped about!

Hi there fellow gamers
My lastest Xbox purchases trough the month and with Black Friday are:

  • Assassins Creed Valhalla;
  • Guardians of the Galaxy;
  • The Halo Master Chief Collection and Halo 5 Guardians;
  • Lost Odissey;
  • Blue Dragon,
  • Ninja Gaiden Black
    Got them all pretty cheap, mostly because of the Black Friday deals, so I´m a happy camper.
    Cheers, stay safe everyone and happy gaming to us all

My latest Series X|S purchase is actually a Series X! Just upgraded the ancient TV so thought the time was right to upgrade the XBox too. Series S donated to my daughter

@Balta666 I actually thought about the game the other day. It was a very unique and memorable experience. I'm glad we played it, we definitely need more games like it on Xbox.

Binary Domain
Mutant: Year Zero Deluxe Edition
Ash of Gods: Redemption
Hard Corps Uprising
Blood Knights

Geez, I can't stop buying games with these sales. Another one today, and another one or two games I wanna buy. I'm trying to control myself a little here!

@Lup I know that problem. I had that for a long time as well. I'm still in the phase of switching over, but the last few months i bought significantly less games than the years before. My backlog is just piling up and some game i wonder if i will ever get around to play them. My idea is to switch over to only buying games if i am going to play them within a month of buying them and otherwise just simply skipping them.

Binary Domain was a fun cover shooter. It was made by RGG studios, the maker of the Yakuza games. Totally different than those games i can tell you, if I didnt know it was made by them i could have never guessed to be honest haha. Still it is a fun game if you like cover shooter like Gears of War.

@Lavalera

... Since I got my Series S I think I've finished only one or two games of the ones I've bought haha. It's 100% a problem. The other ones were all from Game Pass I think, but coming from Sony and never having an Xbox before, well... Gears, Fable, etc. There was a lot of stuff I wanted to play. Even some games I didn't even know.

Binary Domain I've got mainly because it was from RGG. And I like the idea of the trust system or whatever it's called. I never got the chance to play it back on PS3.

Back on topic, I've bought:

Achtung! Cthulhu Tactics and Valfaris & Slain Double Pack since I was in a 2D Metroidvania/platformer/sidescroller lately.

Bought Crisis Core FF VII as I never played and was allways interested in its story as FF VII ia one of my favourites.
So far I have to say I am not liking it that much ...
The visuals are way better than I was expecting even if half remaster half remade but Zack personality is not to my taste and the combat is very boring button mashing (yes, I am a turn base afficionado).
I will power through if for the story but cannot see me ever enjoying the gameplay that much. Also this kind of gameplay hurts my hands a lot and cannot do it for more than and hour or so.

@Balta666 I'm playing on switch, and so far so good. I really loved FF7, so I'm partial to this game lol. Only played the first couple chapters and did some side missions though.

I’m looking at buying Cyberpunk 2077 tomorrow for my Series X. Is it safe to say that the game is now at its best after patch 1.61? I would wait to see if it has further patches but if there is then surely they can’t make it much better than it is now in terms of visuals and performance? I’d imagine any other patches will just be for bugs/glitches.

@MaccaMUFC I played it for a couple of hours on my Series X back in August and I didn't notice any issues for the most part. The only bug I saw was an NPC standing on a table. So from what little I've played, I'd say the game is worth playing now.

@LtSarge I did try out the trial after the next-gen update dropped and I thought it looked and played well but I held off buying until CDPR were completely done patching the game but tbh I think they’ll be patching the game well into next year, especially with the new Phantom Liberty dlc that’s releasing. Plus like I said before I doubt any future patches are going to make me regret playing it now than waiting for said patches.

@MaccaMUFC I'd have said the Witcher 3 was 'finished' too many years ago but then we have had the odd patch or two over the past few years and of course, now we have a new Patch.

Its difficult to know whether its now the 'best' time to play Cyberpunk, its not 'perfect' and it seems 'finished' (pretty much) on last gen Hardware, but you never know if (or when) CDPR could update and/or add something that makes it 'better' to play. The quick 'signs' control scheme update in the Witcher 3 could be seen as an improvement to the Game-play - not just visual or stability improvements, but something that may be more transformative to the overall experience. Not saying CP2077 will do something similar in a 'few' years so maybe hold off for now, but that its impossible to tell.

Some would have said that in essence, the only 'playable' version of this was on next gen hardware and the Series X didn't really have any 'major' issues in general - just the 'same' issues of bugs/glitches etc inherent in ALL versions. Maybe in a 'few' years, it too will get upgraded/patched to take advantage of newer features, newer methods etc learnt from developing on next gen hardware exclusively - Multi-threaded CPU's, VRS etc

So its not 'safe' to say its at its best 'now' on Series X because you never know if they'll improve the game further. It's not 'perfect' now but it is significantly improved over its launch...

Why can't life be like gaming? Why can't I restart from an earlier checkpoint??

@BAMozzy I’ve just play it for about half an hour and I can see the game is still not up to snuff. I want to request a refund, thing is I bought it with reward points so how would the refund process play out?

MaccaMUFC

BAMozzy

@MaccaMUFC No idea, never requested a refund before. I don't know what issues you are experiencing but I know its not 'perfect' but its definitely a LOT better than some games in my opinion. I know that different things affect people differently - how some can play at 20-30fps and say its OK, I don't know but people do play 'contentedly' on XB1S hardware and that rarely delivers a 'consistent' frame rate and worst visual presentation of the Xbox/Playstation consoles.

I would expect that they would give you an Xbox credit but also may have a use by date attached to it. You essentially can trade Reward Points for Credit which needs to be used by a certain date so I would expect MS to give you Xbox Credit rather than refund your payment card/bank account as you didn't pay with those methods. Just what I would 'expect' but that's not based on personal experience.

I have the game on Disc - bought it day 1 on Xbox and then it was also bundled in with my PS5 when I bought that (not even taken that out of its wrapper yet so can't comment on PS5 vs XSX yet). I haven't tried it recently myself because I haven't really had the 'time' to sit down and really give it a chance. Games like this take time to get 'engrossed' into the story, the world etc and its systems. Most RPG's can be quite underwhelming until you start levelling up and can spec more into your own playstyle preferences, get the better skills/weapons etc so was waiting until I can sit down and try it properly.

With Starfield coming up, I don't know if I'll get an opportunity to start Cyberpunk again and really give it a chance or not. I have so many games I want to 'finish' and others still to start and more coming in the new year too so I really don't know if or when I'll play CP2077 again...
