Topic: Holding off playing games because of Series X/S.

Ever since I got my Series X last year, I often find myself holding off on playing non-Series X/S optimised games because I’m thinking a Series X/S patch might come along in the near future.
I was thinking of playing Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order when the FPS Boost patch dropped last winter, but I waited and just a couple of months later a proper X/S version launched pretty much out of the blue, so it really paid off waiting in that case.

Right now for example, I’m thinking about starting Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice… but what if a Series X/S version is released in a couple of months? I certainly would feel regret not having waited for the superior version.
Some other games I have held off playing are The Outer Worlds, Rage 2, Samurai Warriors 5 and both Nier games.

Does anyone else here have the same problem as me? Is it stupid waiting for an update that might not even be in the making?

@Balta666 Yeah, I have no doubt that Nier or any of the other games I mentioned both looks and runs great already. I’m just worried that I’m going to play them, and then an even BETTER version happened to be just around the corner.

Is.stupid to wait for something that may or may not happen, yes. Why deny yourself a great game on the off chance something may happen. If down the road they do optimize it for the Series X you can always go back and play it again. Being optimized isn't going to change the story of the game at all. Honestly optimization really doesn't add much to the games.

@Tasuki Yes, I too feel that it’s pretty silly to wait for something that may not even come. It makes much more sense to wait for the optimisations that has actually been announced, like Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk for example.
But I don’t agree with you that the optimisations doesn’t add much, games like Forza Horizon 4, Doom Eternal, Gears 5 and Fallen Order has had massive improvements with their Series X/S versions.

@Tasuki Does it change the story? No, of course not. But I don’t care very much about story in games anyway, gameplay is much more important IMO.

Does it change the gameplay? Yes, sometimes. If a game goes from 30 to 60 fps for example. And in games like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, I would absolutely say that the prettier visuals and less pop-ins etc. hightens the overall experience.

@JoakimZ But in the end it's not going to change the game or the enjoyment of it. Which is why I say play it now and then if it does get optimized for Series X play it again. Rather then miss out on a game for something that might never happen.

@Beagle I’m glad to see I’m not the only one to think like this. And of course, I’m only waiting when it’s a game that feels like it has a reasonable chance it will recieve an update in the near future.
Like the games I mentioned, I feel like there is still absolutely a chance that they will recieve upgrades. But if they haven’t recieved any upgrades in, say, 6 months from now, it will feel far less likely that there will ever be one.

@XboxSeriesS99 I actually got both my X and S from Walmart, and I am sure a majority of the community bought theirs legit as well.

Might want to tone down the attitude their bub.
