Topic: Gaming on one tv playing xbox and nintendo switch

Hi, my kids play fortunate together. One uses the Xbox connected to a tv, the other has a linked account so they play but he uses the small screen on his Nintendo switch.

Two questions:

1) can both these hdmi inputs be connected to one tv so they can play using two devices but on one screen side by side

2) how could they play Fortnite together just using the Xbox? We have one Microsoft account and one game pass.

Sorry for stupid questions but am new to the kids gaming

Thanks

1) depends on the TV or monitor being used. Some support a split screen or picture in picture mode sometimes known as "PiP" but youd have to check your TVs settings or manual. Might be an option under Input or in the settings. I don't think it's an amazingly common setting though to be honest.

2) sorry, I have no idea as I've never played Fortnite. Depends if the game itself supports splitscreen.

See ya!

1) This will depend on your TV but this functionality isn't common as far as I can tell (I have looked for it)
2) - Fortnite supports split screen on xbox - just add another controller and profile.

Joe, we have a second controller, but thought you would need a second Microsoft account to create a second profile? Also thought split screen and multiplayer was only possible on online games? Appreciate any hints or tips you can give on how to do this - thanks

@Rjt_xbox Unless your TV has a P.I.P. option the only thing I can think of is just get a smaller TV or a monitor for the Switch that can be placed next to the other TV with the Xbox.

I have both my Switch and Xbox connected to my TV via different HDMI ports but you can't play both at the same time due to having to have the TV set to different HDMI channels.
