@NintendoByNature this felt like the first real boss that tested your dodge and parry skills. I failed to go after the optional bosses so I had to do it will all masks.
It has a weakness to Fire and Dark. Use them to your advantage.
I was using burn from Lune so I could change stance in Maelle's next turn, then Sciel (or could be Luna) has a dark power move (or what every they are called where the meter at the bottom fills up). This gives you one extra move and if you stack them, you can easily do 9,999 3 times in a row.
I finally got the platinum trophy this morning before work! My most difficult challenge was defeating Simon, but after respecting my Lumines/Pictos, I managed to defeat him with relative easy, though there was still strategy involved. But man, was he difficult for a while. I almost gave up on getting the trophy because I couldn’t figure out how to beat him.
@Kraven Congrats on the platinum, it's a tough game so that's a well earned trophy. I just finished Act 2 yesterday and was completely blown away by it. What a game. Very few games, movies or books even have hooked me like this game.
First axon in visages down. Grinded a bit to get my entire party to 42. Thankfully, I was firing on all cylinders and didn't have to bring in any of my remaining party members to finish him off.
@NintendoByNature Cool! I think (at least that happened to me) you'll find the second axon a little less difficult than Visages, especially at that level.
I arrived at Gestral Village, so my opinion is based on a small portion of the game. Things I like so far: the character design and the deep and flexible mechanics. Things I'm not liking as much: the colour palette, how obscure and poorly explained the mechanics and user interface are, the lack of maps (I know this has been discussed a lot), how "safe" the script is, almost uninspired, although well written, except for the word "fu**" being repeated every 5 minutes.
Tissuer and Glissando down as well. Only had about an hour of gaming time last night on xbox. As long as I can get the adequate time this weekend, I should be able to finish this up.
I've kind of fallen off this game in Act 3. I don't like trying to get around the world map and really dislike grinding levels to try and get to some of those Danger areas. Up until now I never really needed to grind levels and it's the main thing that puts me off turn based rpgs. Ah well.
Instead of doing the optional bosses and danger areas I decided to just max out the relationships and complete the game, probably one the best games I've played. I didn't actually need to grind levels for the last bits I did, it's entirely optional if you want to do the rest of the side content so for me the main game was near perfect. The world map could do with a fast travel menu option for places you've been to. However the combat, story, characters, writing and acting, music and art style are just sublime in this game. I need a break from gaming to recover from that ending!
By the end of act 1 and start of 2 (Verso joins), I got used to the poorly explained game mechanics and UI, and I started to like the game much more, also because the characters had more of the story uncovered. Expedition 33 has a very rough start, but it's very much worth playing.
I defeated the paintress last night. I've been told there's either a ton you can do now, or head right towards the end of the game. Considering I'll be on vacation Monday for a full week, I'm trying to button this game up before then. I'd rather not come back from a week vacation and try to remember all the gameplay. My current team is sitting at 57-58. If I start heading to the end of the game, is that too low? Or just about right? Im still playing on normal and barely getting by.
@NintendoByNature I was level 62 when I finished the game, it wasn't too bad. I did all the relationship quests though and picked up a handy picto from a merchant on Maelle's quest for the end game area. You could always try going to the end game area and see what it's like. I initially went there straight away, got to a few different expedition flags then decided to leave and do the other quests.
@NintendoByNature I think you are fine! I was around level 40-42 or so when I got to the final battles. It was difficult, maybe, but very doable (and those battles prove my reflexes, lol).
