Talking Point: What Are Your Plans For Gamescom 2025?

I will wait for the recap articles and check out the trailers that sound interesting.

Not my favorite show. I will just see what is posted here. Always wonder why Xbox doesn’t do more mini shows. Seems like they have ample resources to one a least every 3 months….

The usual, ignore the live broadcast and maybe checkout the PureXbox recap for the two games I have an interest in.

If I'm home at the moment the events start I will definitely give it a look (on second screen while playing a game).

I might check in on some streams and the opening, but I'll definitely be refreshing Pure Xbox fairly often. Well written articles that summarize the big stuff is always appealing to me.

Watching some shows live, some after so I can skip through all the stuff I'm not interested in and the rest I'll probably read some articles and watch some trailers on youtube - pretty much the same as every year.

I can't say that many of the games at both Xbox shows really appeal enough that I want to watch the whole thing and I find Geoff Keighley to be annoying so I tend to watch these at least 30mins after they've started so I can skip past all the 'boring' (to me) bits.

I shall watch the Opening Night Live with Geoff Keighley on the night, but with a 30 minute delay so that I can cut out all the pointless chat and interviews, and any musical interludes or adverts.

The Xbox showcases I shall watch live in the afternoon. I am looking forward to them, as there are a number of games that I am very much interested in buying, and a few that I need some more information before deciding whether they are pre-orders, or games that I shall pick up in a sale.

The only slightly annoying thing with these shows is the timings as I always cook tea for my sons at around 6, and eat at about 7, meaning at least Opening Night Live clashes with when I shall be wearing my chefs hat... 😂

Are we going to be getting a breakdown on when all these shows start, @Kezelpaso / @FraserG? I need to clear my diary to ensure I'm around to watch them. You have no idea how busy retirement is.. 🤣

I actually wasn't planning on even watching the event but all the talk about the Xbox Rog Ally, and the teaser posted yesterday by Asus for what looks to be a controller, has me fairly intrigued.

I don't think Microsoft will be going to in-depth about anything we haven't seen already as it pertains to games, but I want to know more about the Asus/Xbox handheld device and what kind of other hardware Asus may be working on.

Check Xbox Wire a day later! One day I might go to Germany, but I don't think I'm winning that fan fest. I also WOULD watch the fan fest live stream or some live stream, but timezones really don't match up at all where I am, and I have a job + general life responsibilities, so that's a no-go-pogo 🤗.

@AlwaysPlaying Because Xbox is Microsoft. Be thankful they're doing and attending shows far more consistently and with more presence now than in years past. The dev direct and partner preview are really nice. And also that IGN indie showcase. In the past it was just suckling off of hopium from specifically the summer showcase the entire year. They didn't even consistently attend events.

Now if I were Microsoft I'd go way harder. I'd start my own Xbox convention. Xbox first party is now beyond big enough and it'd go a long way to not just build brand loyalty and recognition, but tie gaming to Xbox. I'd also do like Sega is with the sonic symphony and host rotating fan favorite music shows of Xbox franchises (which again, massive chose to choose from) and throw in some announcements there. I'd even look into leveraging AR tech to build an e-sports stadium that you can actually attend and experience and revitalize that market. That could save e-sports and jolo-lens. Heck, they could do the same with movie theaters and make gaming movie theaters or something. A lot of thinking would have to go into it but it's not impossible (none of this are impossible but the latter half of what I said would be an undertaking to say the least but it doesn't even matter what they do, it matters that they do something).

The problem is that Microsoft isn't a consumer oriented business in the slightest and they do not understand the importance of building brand loyalty and the value in good creative marketing that builds long lasting relationships. I mean look at windows. Not a single person likes windows. Anyone that says they do (like me) just likes what is available on it and probably just hate Apple and think Linux is intimidating (and also know Linux has less software support). There's a number of reasons why, and burning fans is one, but the big one is just that they don't really have any fans. Like where's the windowscon where you dress up as a blue screen of death? Where's even the Apple like cult? Microsoft doesn't understand how powerful building a cult is. Apple fans will defend anything Apple does to death and they'll praise whatever they do as genius innovation. Microsoft can't even keep it's in person stores open. They're a cutting edge software company that flops like a fish when it comes to marketing and thus they flail and fail at building an identity and through that identity long lasting VALUABLE relationships with consumers.

I will be "watching" as much as I can but will be at work. After I will be refreshing Pure Xbox to catch up.

Considering they went and cancelled my most anticipated game a couple months ago, frankly I don't give a damn anymore. Doing they're going to announce anything new or noteworthy at this point and I'm on blackout mode for the last couple games I plan to play this year. Don't want any spoilers for NG4 or Keeper

Clown Wigs for everyone, I'm hoping for Silksong or Elder Scrolls 6 news, or if we're crazy enough, Half Life 3.
