I am assuming you're talking about a series X, right? Here in Portugal it is the same situation however earlier in the year I manager to get one at a store (while they were not common available though) so my recommendation is to try on dates not so busy and add on whishlist on big retail stores to be alerted. Good luck
There definitely seems to be some stock becoming available in the UK at least. I forgot to cancel my stock alert from last year and recently it's been pinging me pretty regularly, especially in the last week or so.
I saw one at Target yesterday. Just sitting on the shelf. A friend got one thru Walmart online without much issue a couple weeks ago also. Maybe it won’t be much longer until they are widely available.

Same here. Settled for the Series S and will see what happens in 2022. Rumors of a new, more powerful Series console have been put out there, but 2 years seems pretty early. I'm really just hoping the Series X stock situation improves. The console itself is powerful enough for another few years.
I wouldn’t count out the series S too soon, most games for the next year or so will still likely be cross-gen and once the previous generation comes to a close and Series X/S and PS5 are sole target platforms.
Once that time comes, I can see the Series S pushed further. The Matrix demo really shows that and had me quite impressed with it.
When I find a series X, I can just put the series S in a spare room for guests to stream content on it.
There seems to be quite a lot of Series X and PS5 consoles for around £500 on E-bay in the U.K, I managed to find a guy selling a Series X near where I live and just got one for £480 yesterday, which seemed pretty decent to be honest, and much better than those bad value bundles retailers seem to be pushing.
I think you have to step away from the media hype with all this, of course there is an issue but the average price on E-bay for consoles is not as high as some would have you believe, I could have bought either console for months off the site for around £500 or so.
There are so many online media sites and social media trackers stoking all this, and of course with their links to the retailers for commission as well, all in the guise of helping the average customer to buy a sort after console naturally.
The console is awesome and much smaller than I first imagined, I have mine on it's side and it fits into my T.V stand very nicely, I got a new LG telly to go with it, and played a bit of Resident Evil 7 in HDR and it's a very nice upgrade, all the lights really stand out.
On massive surprise was how well the Nintendo Switch looks in docked mode, the T.V has these video game optimizer modes, which give great results if set up correctly.

@Gamer83 If things were normal, maybe, but given how it's still really difficult to get a Series X, I don't see them bothering with a mid-gen refresh like last gen.
Honestly, I'm fine with that as I don't really want one. I get why it happened last gen (to try and capitalize on the rise of 4K), but there's really no need for it this gen when the Series X is more than enough for this gen. That and the fact that they're having enough trouble making enough of the Series X, let alone yet another console.

I agree with you completely. Just posting rumors from some writers and youtubers, although I think it's all speculation on their part based on what happened last gen. I think both PS5 and Series X are strong enough that we can have what seems to now be a 6 or 7 year console cycle without the need for more powerful hardware. Of course I wouldn't be surprised to see slimmed down versions at some point but I'm not expecting the insane jump we saw from the base XOne to One X.
@Gamer83 Slimmer models will definitely come at some point. It'll be interesting to see how Xbox does it though given how purposefully the Series X was designed for heat distribution, but the PS5 definitely could use one and I'm sure a lot of people would really welcome it.

Just gotta keep trying. I check bestbuy/walmart/target/amazon, multiple times a week. Came across the series x, available at best buy last week, just checking randomly. Didn't wait for a tweet or an alert, but others have been successful with'em. Don't know the shops y'all got available, but be persistent. Check whenever you're just surfing. Doesn't hurt. Worse comes to worse, sign up for the all access.
It seems to be getting a bit easier finding a Series X. I have heard that people are able to just walk into stores like Target and Walmart and ask if they have one and are able to get one. I know a few co-workers who were able to get one recently.
