Topic: Pure Xbox Game Club - On Indefinite Hiatus

I'll be giving this game a go tonight. Been a busy couple days for me, but I should be free to at least get an hour under my belt this evening.

Played for a good 45 min last night. I liked that you have melee attacks. Always welcomed in any games that have "horror-elements." It's not overly frightening but still. The gunplay feels nice, and it's great that you have unlimited ammo. The game looks and plays great, writing is "ok" thus far. But only gripe is when there's too many enemies at once, and some require you to do a parry like kick before they hit you, to stun them. Wouldn't be an issue if there wasn't 4 enemies coming at you at once and you need to dodge and parry multiple ones. I also don't know if you can actually lock on to an enemy? Has anyone figured this out?

Finished Hellblade 2 yesterday.

Good timing for a new game. Will hop on Evil West tonight.

@NintendoByNature Yikes. This is a rough go after Hellblade.

I’m getting used to the combat but I am just not really feeling the controls, acting, animations, or anything lol.

I’m going to try and play more tomorrow and decide if I want to move on or not.

@DoomGuy_117 which part do you dislike? I'm not crazy about the multiple enemies and having to parry a specific character while you're being attacked from different directions.

@NintendoByNature I don't mind that as I am a big fan of the combat in Mad Max and the Batman Arkham series.

It just moves a bit wonky. It kind of reminds me of Shadow Warrior 3 (played on Gamepass) being a "Doom Like" game. It moved way to fast and was just platformer and then place of multiple enemies to kill and the rince and repeat.

I am going to put a solid 90 mins in tonight as see if i can get into it. Happy it's on Gamepass and finally tried it. Been on my list to play a while.

Just might not be for me.

Ok, Thousand year door is on the rear mirror and I can start Evil West.
First impression is that goddam the cinematics are cool as heck!!
Gameplay wise is a bit stiff though and I was not expecting it to be melee focused.

A bit better with the guns but it's a tough play lol.

Happy I tried it but I might move on. I need like 5 achievemnts to 100% Alan Wake 2 so I may just jump on that. Alien Isolation has been calling my name too after the fire Aline: Romulus trialer. Can't all be winners I gues lol.

I will at least beat the 2nd chapter before I move on from Evil West just to make sure I don't abandon a game that could be awesome.

@Balta666 I was thinking that we maybe could play Gears of War 2 together next month so that is where my vote goes. And maybe we could play more Gears of War games after it if we like it.

I have now played 6 chapters and although a bit clumsy, the increasing tools on your hand make it more enjoyable. Still digging the art style and the story/cutscenes.
As long as Silksong is not shadow dropped tomorrow I may well finish it (and not a chance otherwise 😀)

@Balta666 I recently got the "shock" tool. Really helpful with a bunch of enemies.

@NintendoByNature absolutely! It is the tool I use 90% of the time. And a bit later you can do shockwaves too hehehe

By now I have all gadgets and I am close to finish the game. For sure yt gets more enjoyable as you go along. My biggest complain is that it is really stingy with achievements with most of it being behind the hardest difficulty.

Haven't played in nearly a week. It's been busy at home unfortunately. I'll try to get back tonight.
