Re: Kinect Support for Netflix Shouts "Action" Today

eclipticus

During playback on netflix you can wave your hand to activate the kinect. on the top of the screen a these icons pop up... << play/II . . . >> as well as an Icon for your hand. so you can control the playback with your hand. also you can say XBOX . . . PLAY, STOP, PAUSe

Thats all nice.

During selection process you wave your hand and the KINECT SECTION starts up. and it gives a list of suggested titles, which may or maybe not be on your instant que, or regular recommended for you. There are about a dozen titles, you wave you hand icon over the one you want and wait for the circle to fill as normal.
If you dont like the selected dozen, you have to use your remote, for regular netflix use...

To me it looks like a tech demo.. and what it would look like when it is fully implemented. I don't see how this should of been released as an update feature...

Re: Microsoft Repeats Promise for More Core Games on Kinect

I am glad to see that Kinect wont be shoehorned. If that is actual policy so much better. Also it is encouraging to see the other options that Kinect offers, Voice commands and facial recognition.
There is no reason that every kinect supported games needs to use all of the kinect features. It ought to be pick and choose which ever will enhance the individual game.

Re: 343: "We Could Make a Halo Wars Sequel for Kinect"

You're the first person to say that FPS would benefit from Kinect. Which, In my mind just goes to show that it is all about the way you would view the possibilities.

While there are numerous clicks in your typical RTS style game. Many of these can be streamlined. I think all it takes is a different approach to understanding and creating a UI.

Of course, that doesn't mean what ever interface is implemented will be wildly successful.

Re: 343: "We Could Make a Halo Wars Sequel for Kinect"

@soaduk, I think RTS would work well enough with kinect. just use your hand to move the icon on the screen. Black and White proved its possible to have a game with little to no buttons.
As far as the article, the title is a little misleading, O'Connor doesn't explicitly say that it is a HW sequel, it could just be a mini-game, or a Kinect Feature for a regularly controlled game. Also, having something work and succeeding at it is two different things. They made ET work on the Atari. Barely, but they did. Would it be of quality, he never mentions that. But possibly the Will is not there because what ever they get to work, would not be up to the quality.
I think we can all safely say that if they can get a HALO title to work on the kinect at a satisfactory level the "WILL" will most certainly be there, even if it is only by the guys looking at the bottom line.
But with that being said, I don't think anyone would be disappointed if more genres and titles came out for the kinect.

Re: Child of Eden on Kinect Gets its Trance Vibrators Back

Couldn't they replicate the Trance repulsors through the bass in the speakers.
Esp. if there is a sound system and sub hooked up? Or is it something completely difference than vibration feedback.

Just wondering...
Luckily, I have two wireless remotes so at least its something.
