Why in the "related games" up top do you have the PS3 versions?? Is that some incredibly stupid automated thing or does someone have a bad sense of humor?
BOOOOOOO!! I hated this jerk when he spun his lies for Sony... how did he get into MS?!?! This is crap! I wouldn't trust this clown if he told me Halo was great! BOOOOOO!!!!
I got Kinect a few months ago (4 or 5) and I really love it- but don't use it much. I love it for it's Voice Control features on Netflix. I like the features that Forza put in with Kinect- VERY cool stuff. I love Dance Central and Fruit Ninja. Even the play of Gunstringer is great stuff. What I don't like about it is the crapware that they've put out for it that they charge full price on. That's crazy. Stuff that MAY be worth $10, they're asking $50 for. I'm not buying it, but I'm aware that it hurts the brand name as a whole. I haven't played Child of Eden yet, but that's a great example of screwing things up and then fixing it too late. I'm in no way bashing the kid games or the games aimed at kids. I have a niece and nephew that LOVE the Kinect games and I think that's awesome. But games for adults are lacking right now. I think Steel Battalion may really change things, but right now "Better with Kinect" seems to be the best way to get in the game. Features, not "Featured".
Just a week early?!?! That's a bummer! I'm excited, don't get me wrong, but only a week early?? I've already prepaid for mine so it's not going to motivate ME to go buy it, but I hope it does others.
I'm ready for it- 800 pts set aside and all. At first I was VERY against it and thought "why not just spend the $10 and get Burnout Revenge??" but I've seen vids of it now and I actually liked what I saw. It's not trying to be Burnout Arcade, it's something very different but in a familiar shell. The press previews and their reaction to playing it hasn't hurt either. Then I saw the clips with the music and I immediately put my 800 pts aside for it's release.
I'm starting to think they're going to release a "combo pack" of all the DLC themes they've been releasing. I mean- they're doing a LOT of DLC for a game that WAS $1 on phone and now is $10 on Xbox... PLUS they're releasing $2 pack after $2 pack. And I'm sitting back and waiting to get it with Gunstringer, but the Halo DLC pack is a must- the rest are just 'fun if I have $2 to waste".
My first question would be to YOU and not the developer. Is Darts fun? In any way? Is there ANY form of challenge or is it a game of line up the exact point you want the dart to go... and hit it? My second question is will they continue to stick to a 1:1 Kinect integration with their animations if it means Avatar's feet or hands start jumping around manically due to loss of bone/body detection? Wouldn't it be easier and more visually pleasing if they used SOME canned animations so we don't have dancing Avatars when we're doing something simple like "standing still at the plate" or "waiting to swing at the tee"?
You don't have the $5 option in your country yet? We've had that here in the US for about a year I think..? But I can see your point of you don't have that option.
I've played through the demo twice today and I can say without any hesitation that I will be picking this up. It's fun and it's funny. Twisted Pixel has done the best job of selling a Kinect game this side of Dance Central. AND it comes with Fruit Ninja?! Done!
So a Tomb Raider like work out game?? Honestly... I think that's pretty awesome! I would actually be interested in seeing a game like this! Running in place makes the character run for their life through a trap filled tomb? or laying on your back and pushing traps off your body or swimming through rivers? There's SO much potential with that idea! Good work!
If all you do is line up the cursor where you want your dart to land... why is that a game? Isn't that like putting your mouse over a link and hitting the button? It's supposed to go where you tell it- how is that in any way a 'skill'??? And the tennis better be something a bit more dynamic than that made it look. I won't buy it just for Golf.
I don't think I'd PAY for any of the Fun Labs stuff. Honestly, they're pretty useless. And they're not "fun" in any way. Useful, clever perhaps, but not "fun". The Avatar Kinect could be it's own channel or tool, but drawing a sparkly line around the same image idea over and over... for $3? That's just stupid. MS needs to get more people interested in their Kinect idea- charging for such a simple, one time use program... yeah- really stupid..
I believe Peter. I love Fable - Fable 3, with Fable 2 being my all time favorite. If he delivers an experience that works, I'm a happy Fable Fan. If they work out some Kinect stuff and some controller stuff- I'll REALLY be happy. But I do hope they get back to another core Fable game and I hope we get to see Fable 4 next year at E3!
I'm REALLY glad to see previews like these. Developers should be told "Hey- this game you're working on... needs more work." I don't like fluff pieces where previewers pat developers on the head for crap games and then let the developer get slugged in the face with a bad review they didn't see coming. With other games you're previewing doing pretty well- this game being a Flagship game for the Kinect needs to put them to shame- not the other way around.
Wow. I'm not a big Star Wars fan and I already have my Kinect... but that's pretty awesome news! I could easily see more than a few of my friends being tempted to get this strictly for the collectable value.
I whole heartedly plan on 1) Dismissing that they exist all together. 2) Removing and Banning anyone on my Twitter Account that dares to Tweet an ad from this stupid system 3) Ignoring any other feature that this piece of MS insanity that pops up.
This is the truly most insulting and terrible idea MS has ever hair-ball vomited up. It's right next to letting EA buy BioWare and opting to buy Rare instead. Truly a terrible idea.
I saw the video leaked 'thing' over at Kotaku and my eyes fell out. This is the single worst idea I've ever seen, read, heard about or dreamed of. This is such a TERRIBLE idea I can't even see how MS is going to do this and not be laughed off the map.
Guys in MS land, if you see this thread- please don't do this. This is HORRIBLE. You charge us $60 a year when the competition is giving almost the exact same features for free... and now your sticking ads on the main page of the NNXE??? We're not going to Tweet Spam our friends/followers/fans. We're not going to promote ads as if it's content. We're not going to Kinect chat about a sneaker ad. This is just a train wreck of bad publicity.
I don't think developers should be TRYING to make Kinect a navigation tool in the way of a controller. I know Peter knows this and that he's just stating the obvious, but still. I see so many cry baby "hard core" (go suck your thumb in the corner) gamers that whine about Kinect and they're grounds are based on the IDEA that Kinect is supposed to replace the controller. If I want to play Fable, I'm going to play with a controller. If I want to play Dance Central... guess what I'd use? That's what they need to do- make a cross input game and use cross input controls (pick up a controller for one part, stand up for the Kinect parts. No replacing one for the other.
I'm thinking menu items (artwork that's unlocked perhaps), hacking terminals to read them/interact with them and maybe- because it would be cool- turning off your flashlight or swapping grenade types. Maybe even lobbing grenades. That would be very cool. But all things are optional so no matter what they put in- I'm cool with it. Because if I'm not... I'll turn it off. No harm/ no foul.
Years may seem a bit much, I agree, but when you see hacks and stuff like that online- they're tech demos at very best. They're not games. So I fully understand what Dan was saying. An idea, no matter how great, has to go through a ton of focus groups, programming, testing... and developing a brand new genre of gaming around Kinect- that's going to take a very long while to get the imagination, focus and "fun" to work together to change something so dynamically. I'm sure a big house like Turn 10 could pop out a tech demo for something in a week or so, but that's different than popping out a completed project focused around a brand new idea. But as I said- I agree that "years" seems a little long.
Well, I practiced what I preached. I went out today and got Kinect, Dance Central and of course Kinect Adventures. I'm SO freaking happy!!! I'm having a blast and my legs are killing me- but I think my lungs will do the job first! I'm so laughably out of shape! hahahahaha. I'm so psyched for Forza and Mass Effect and Ghost Recon now...!
Really blallkirby1? Wanna sell it to me? This e3 made me want to get a Kinect more than last year! Honestly, I'm all about the core games, but if 'hardcore' games are all a system does- it fails. Nintendo went the exact opposite way this gen and it kicked EVERYBODY'S ass. If MS just stuck with 'hardcore' games and tried to please trolls like bboy2970 all the time, they'd be in 3rd place, not PS3. I thought MS did a great job at E3 of making their statement "We're here for everybody" because NOBODY showed as many games this year as MS. I saw more games than I could purchase for the next year and frankly, anything more than that is just heartbreak. At least now I have a few fall backs if a game has a bad review. I'd say I walked away with 17 - 20 games I wanted (not all Xbox- some were PS3 as well) so I'm set for the whole year. My best moment for E3 was a toss up- Forza Motorsport 4 with Kinect head tracking and voice recognition or Battlefield 3. Then again... Tomb Raider and The Witcher 2 are both 1st place runners as well. And Batman... and Uncharted 3. And Gunsmith in Ghost Recon and Squad Control in Mass Effect 3 were all smile inducing moments... So yeah- E3 was awesome this year for me!
PS- and Dance Central 2 with 2 player and campaign introduced.
I don't think there's a directly link between what you'd do in Mass Effect vs. the games you listed. Play Mass Effect- for your own sake, play the best damn games on the 360- and you'll see where the Kinect would be a perfect fit. The other games aren't really open to the functionality that Mass Effect Kinect offers. You'll see why. Trust me.
Two things. First; that looks crazy cool. I see the use of the fingers, the need for the TWO fingers to move vs. manipulate... great application and it appears to be real. Second; Where was there an Xbox or a Kinect in that video? Was that a PC version of Kinect that's yet to be confirmed?
