Honestly, although we're still waiting for a lot of the big first party releases to arrive, the Xbox itself is just so unbelievably easy and convenient to use, and all of the features compliment eachother so well that the value of the whole is far more than the sum of its parts. Backwards Compatibility, GamePass, Cloud Gaming, Smart Delivery and Quick Resume are all fantastic features individually, but together they are an absolutely UNBEATABLE combination. I don't even mind that I paid so much for expandable storage, because once the storage is there it feels like it turbocharges all of those other features! Gaming has never been so easy, trying to play a game on any of my other consoles just feels like pulling teeth in comparison
I'd not played a Call of Duty since... well, the original Modern Warfare 2 funnily enough. I was tempted by the MW reboot, but finally gave in for the full next-gen MW experience in MW2. I'm about three quarters of the way through the campaign I suspect, and so far it's been everything I wanted. The gunplay is incredible, the graphics are staggeringly pretty, and the stealth missions have been tense and, most importantly for me, surprisingly open. It's been a real breath of fresh air in quite a stale and slow year
@Pusher2021 Black is a fantastic choice, hope you enjoy it! It was easily my favourite shooter on the PS2 (Halo edges it out on the Xbox of course). Even now, it has a very particular atmosphere and a pretty brutal and LOUD feel compared to all other shooters
Attempted to play earlier, started in a queue of 50, 40, 30, 20, 10, 9, 8, 7... Then 20,000. Thought something might be up, decided to Cyberpunk instead
The closest I've ever been to getting my wife into videogames was her designing me a controller in the lab for Christmas last year. Orange with light green and blue highlights, absolutely gorgeous!
Yeah, it's Deathloop for me! Had really been looking forward to it, but have mixed feelings so far... I loved the Dishonored games, and I'm enjoying the level design of Deathloop and spotting all the changes between times of day etc., but inevitably I end up taking out all the goons and then just wandering around trying to find residuum to build up a little stash of permanent trinkets. Got a couple special weapons so far, but not any slabs, so once I get one or two of those I'm sure it'll become a lot more interesting, although I wish there was a bit more to distinguish the slabs from the powers in Dishonored.
The shooting mechanics are pretty fun for the most part, although the AI is a bit too easy to exploit at longe range (maybe a holdover from Dishonored having mostly short to medium range combat?).
Still feeling compelled to go back to playing it each day though, just haven't quite got into the flow of it just yet.
Tomorrow will be a whole other story though, as it's my nephew's birthday, so I'm excited to spend some more time exploring GamePass with him... who knows where we'll end up!
